    His avatar has to be Ellsbury. Flawed post, but it's an internet forum, not a column for ESPN or SI, and we all know how great all their writers are... I just have to ask, though, did you actually watch the Sox back in '03, because I just can't imagine how you could have screwed that up. The first thing that pops into my head when thinking about that '03 team was that bomb. I agree on you're feelings about Wake. I love him, he's a great guy, great bargain, but I disagree a little bit to the extent of "misery" when Wake is pitching bad. I personally don't get worked up, because I expect his fair share of awful outings and the amazing outings completely outweigh the bad, in my mind. The guys I can't stand to watch pitch poorly are our Aces (Beckett, Lester). The beginning of this season was far worse (to watch) than any bad outing(or stretches) from Wake. I have to mention Dice-K, all the walks (and recent suck) are almost unbearable.

    Hanley is having a pretty bad return to Fenway so far. 2 bad fielding plays, 1 error, and thrown out at 2nd trying to stretch a single.

    Example, you're missing my point. I'm not saying Wake is more valuable than DiceK or anything, I'm saying he is very cheap where as DiceK is not. I also didn't say DiceK pitcher poorly last year. My point is that DiceK needs to pitch at a high level to be worth his contract, where as Wake does not. No doubt that DiceK isn't as bad as he has been recently, but some of us think he will continue to regress from last year. I'm worried of how he will fare if he continues to attack the zone (when he gets his stuff back). We haven't seen him really attack the zone in the majors.

    It's about money. Wake is a bargain for what he gives you. DiceK is not. It's pretty much all about expectation.

    I think the reason a lot of us feel this way towards DiceK is because his approach to pitching. It's pure agony watching him pitch and many of us are worried he will fall off the table over the next couple of years. I hope he becomes a dominant pitcher again, but I just can't stand to watch him pitch.

    I wouldn't mind seeing Wake eat a couple innings. Better than blowing out the pen.
