    I hope Kielty is fine enough to play 8 frames tonight. If not, I'm surprised Tito didn't make any moves to bring up a healthy 4th OF for the time being.

    So this could mean Manny, Kielty, and JD Drew aren't available. Time to call up Jacoby.

    I thought Youk was out before they even ruled him safe the first time around. Pretty much anytime a player avoid a tag and ends up on the grass they're out.

    He claimed that he just lost control of his fastball, and thats what it looked like to me. He had no reason to throw at Youk. In my book, if there's no motive and the pitcher himself goes out of his way to say that it wasn't intentional, then its just a mistake.

    The Mariners scare me when we have to play in SafeCo, but the Yankees scare me more overall. I think the Yankees will make the Wild Card or, god forbid, the division is still very much in reach for the Yankees if the Sox don't play well.

    Is anyone else really worried about having to face the Yankees in the playoffs? Since they got they're pitching staff together, we have had trouble beating them.

    Why is it that the Red Sox never can put the Yankees out, yet it seems the Yankees always put the Red Sox out so easily? All we needed was 1 win in this series to keep the Yanks from gaining momentum. This sweep will give them a ton of confidence and I'm afraid of what the Yankees might do to the bad teams they're about to face. It's real nice to see the sox playing their hearts out... It's not the end of the season yet and no time for panic, but this is very disappointing.

    Ok, you can't use Paps now. 8 run lead, no way. Sit him down, throw some trash out there to get 3 outs. He warmed up, big deal, he can now cool down. Hes a big boy.

    6 run lead. I think it's common knowledge not to use your closer in a 6 run game during the first game of DH. I guess Tito didn't get the memo.

    Francona doesn't learn. It looks like hes still gonna use him in a 5 run lead. WTF. Let Gagne give up 4 runs and earn a save.

    Has anyone seen him throw a singe 4SFB today? It looks like he's only throwing the 2-seamer and I haven't seen the radar gun go above 90mph.

    Its just frustrating. I saw this coming. Gagne isn't the same guy he was 3 years ago. Tito better at least keep Gagne away from close games. Back to Jima for the 8th and Paps for the 9th. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

    If Paps can't warm up, throw 2 pitches, then warm up 5 hours later and throw 1 inning, his arm is too f***ing weak. K-rod went what 2 2/3 innings tonight? I think Paps can throw 2 pitches in a day game then 1 inning in a night game 5 hours later. Paps is an athlete, he could have easily done it, but Tito is babying him WAY too much.

    Not in a 1-run game. If you really want to give Gagne a chance to get some confidence and play it safe, send him out in the 9th of the 1st game where he has a 4-run lead. What ever. I saw this coming 5 hours ago and im about to throw up. Re: August 17th vs. Angels - Game 1 If we blow a lead after Beckett leaves tonight, I'm gonna throw up and aim at Tito. MDC should be on the mound right now.

    Schil, I understand what you are saying. But Gagne has been blowing game for 2 weeks now. A 1-run game is NOT the time to give Gagne a chance to get some confidence. I know Tito can't tell the future, but I just don't like using your closer when he wasn't needed and having to rely on a guy who has absolutely SUCKED for 2 weeks. If Gagne was fine, then yea, I wouldn't mind the move, but lets not kid ourselves, it isn't like no one saw this coming. Gagne hasn't done anything but give up runs and leads since joining us.

    I saw this coming a mile away. I was in Balt for the series and saw Gagne blow those 2 games. The second Paps went out for the 9th I just had a feeling Gagne would go out in a 1 run game and blow it. Well, he did. I warned about this 5 hours ago and look what f***ning happened. Most any reliever can get 3 outs without giving up 4 runs. No reason to hurt your bullpen for the second game when you don't need to. The "win right in front of you" is crap. you make a move in the day game of a DH to give you the best chance to win BOTH games. Thats what winning teams do.

    Tito coming out to argue the blown call was too little too late. HE could have effected the out come of this game hours ago.
