There is no way Beckett gets traded. Rosenthal starts this because the Sox didn't say an absolute "no" to a team that asked about his availability. Why should they do that for any player. Trot is one of my all time favorites but do you wonder why he has had no action at all in this market and 4 or 5 teams were in on Drew. It is sad to see what injuries have done to him. As far as Manny goes I don't see the connection. They are signing Drew whether they trade Manny or not. Great Hitter but he quit on the team this year. Did you see "Hot Stove " this week or was it Red Sox this week. Lorretta and Ortiz spoke on Manny. Lorretta was open that the clubhouse was questioning whether Manny was hurt enough not to play this year and Ortiz who usually defends Manny was very quiet and evasive. What some of you are missing is there are deals already made by some teams who just agree to wait to announce the signings until the arb deadline goes by. Why would any team announce a signing today when if they wait for Sat or Sun they might not have to give up the pick. The deal can still be done!!!! I don't know if they will offer Lugo. They probably will but they also don't want him back so there is some risk. I think Drew's deal is done and will be announced this weekend Also if the Sox get a SS back for Manny they probably won't sign Lugo.
