  1. A soft flyball. Hmmph
  2. Can Captain Wormburner live up to his name?
  3. Okay now, might need to be pulled here
  4. NE didnt upgrade as much as NYJ and MIA did in the division and their preseason was abysmal. I agree, I think they end up 8-8 or 9-7. The bloom might be off the rose in Bellichek-ville. The local media pundits are really starting to lay it on thick about how the Pats are cheap.
  5. BTW, down 1, I want to see what Nova can do. He's at 74 pitches, he should easily get through 7.
  6. If Dojji had his way, Anderson would be at 1b, Rizzo at DH, Pedroia at 2b, Navarro at SS, Lowrie at 3b, Kalish in LF, Reddick in CF, Nava in RF, Salty at C with a rotation of Lester, Buchholz, Bowden, Doubront and Kelly
  7. The only team that scares me in the playoffs is TB. Texas has Cliff Lee and nothing else that scares me in the playoffs, and he's hurt. Minnesota has nobody that worries me in a playoff series. Tampa is the only team that can run up 2 starters that I think we'll have trouble with in Price and Shields (who has dominated us this yr). We won the WS last yr based on good enough pitching and a lot of offense. If our offense goes into a hole again, then we dont win regardless of pitching performance
  8. http://jiveturkey.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/debbie_downer.jpg Nova is throwing really well today. Burnett pitched well enough to win. And our ace is the only one who put in a shitcan performance. Getting swept here is much less on the pitchers and much more on the fact that we are halfway through with our third game and have scored 6 total runs
  9. Marte and Aceves are out for the yr. Both are looking at surgery
  10. He looked pretty damn good through 2IP. His last start, he had absolutely nothing
  11. Navarro might have a big league future, but if I were a sox fan, I'd much rather he get another yr at AAA. He's played only 16 games at AAA in his career and he's obviously overmatched right now in the bigs. I doubt he'd be ready
  12. Okay, put some value to a season.... 2007- .270/.373/.423- JD Drew's OPS was 38th in the bigs amongst OFers with 400PAs or more. 38th, right behind Randy Winn. I'd put that worth at about $6 million 2008- .280/.408/.519- Drew's OPS was 7th amongst OFers with 400PAs or more. Right behind Carlos Lee. Lee makes $19 mil a season, and Drew played in 67% of his teams games, so 2/3 of $19 mil is $12.7mil 2009- .279/.392/.522- Drew's OPS was 5th amongst OFers with 400PAs or more. He was right up there with Matt Holliday, who makes about $17 million per season. So, let's call his worth that yr at $17 million 2010- .254/.346/.444- Drew's OPS is 27th in the bigs amongst OFers with 400PA or more. He is surrounded by mostly scrub players and part timers, but Nick Markakis is right around him. Markakis is making $7 mil this yr, so lets call it that. 2007- $6 million 2008- $12.7 million 2009- $17 million 2010- $7 million Add em all up... his worth is about $10.6 mil per season. This is all ballpark and there are plenty of guys who are paid more than him below him, and plenty of guys paid less than him above him. But I would put his worth in the $10 mil range rather than $14 mil.
  13. Nope, they held on longer than most sox fans would have. But now you prepare for next yr. Anderson should start every game at 1b, Lowrie every game at SS and Navarro every game at 2b. No point in injuring Scutaro any further. Nava should be in LF and Kalish should be in CF. Hell, why not call up Reddick and put him in RF.
  14. Wait, Ellsbury's defense has improved this season? How, and what part of the season? The guy has been out almost the entire yr
  15. Ellsbury's trade value took a major tumble. He needs to build it back up next season, which is why I think he stays in Boston next yr
  16. Yeah, but Kilo, the overproduction in 1 season doesnt translate into another. And I find it VERY hard to believe that after this season, he's been worth $14 mil per season over the 4 yrs he's been in Boston. Very hard to believe. His sub .800OPS at a COF spot is average at best and he's done that for 2 of the 4 seasons. One of the seasons, he only played 109 games. How can one season justify the entire contract?
  17. The white flag has been waved
  18. I'll tell you, the O's look like a new club. They hustle now and arent completely dead.
  19. nyyfans is pretty awful for info. That list above is missing Corban Joseph and David Phelps who are definitely top 10. Eduardo Nunez, David Adams, Hector Noesi, and Jose Ramirez are all 10-20 well past Flores and Feliz. And I think he might be overrating Melky Mesa. I know he was FSL MVP, but he needs to prove he can do something at the higher levels before I put him in the top 20. His skills are off the chart, but he didnt start producing until he was older than the league, which is alarming
  20. "some manner of tear? that cannot get worse? Labrum, bicep tendon or rotator cuff really are the only things in there that can be torn and yes they can get worse
  21. I think you have to take him season to season. He's been worth $14 million+ in one season of his 4 in Boston. Does one incredible year outdo one injury filled and 2 mediocre yrs?
  22. I've mellowed in my time in Mass.
  23. I also remember 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2009 very, very well.
