  1. Kearns continues his strikeout barrage
  2. Gardner comes in and hits 8th? Cmon now, he's solid out of the leadoff spot, put him there
  3. Orlando Cabrera is available seemingly every yr. He puts up enough defense to remain at SS and enough offense to justify a roster spot. He's not perfect, but he is available
  4. Thats not really up for debate. As I've said many times before, the sox got quite a head start on the farm system building idea, even though it boggles my mind that they havent been doing this all along, but so be it
  5. The sox have a very solid farm system even past their top 10. Their issue is that a lot of their talent is in the short season leagues and should start blossoming next yr in the long season leagues. One guy I think will pop in Greenville next yr is Madison Younginer. Throws very hard but has had some lumps in Lowell this yr. If he figures it out, he'll be akin to Casey Kelly in the sox system in terms of hype, but he'll actually be worth it
  6. That's garbage ORS, and u know it.
  7. If he isnt even the best player in his own draft, how can he be the #2 prospect in the entire system? Get my drift
  8. Jim Callis said that Jesus Montero would be one of the top 5 prospects in baseball in the BA rankings. And he said that he would take him over Bryce Harper at this time. That being said, Callis is not a scout and is dealing typically with old and outdated info, but it is nice to see some praise coming from the publications
  9. You take everything you can get. It's part of the game. Those who denounce it are the same ones who would applaud it if it happened to their team. Hypocrites
  10. No, he is not. He is not close enough to that potential to have you be right on your initial point. He is absolutely, unequivocally not an option for the sox as a starting SS for 2011. Might he progress and be an option in 2012 or 2013, possibly. But your initial point was to consider him as an option for 2011 and that is just wrong.
  11. I agree, Vitek was a solid, safe pick. He looks like a true blue all around player who should easily make the bigs. But just because he was the first rounder doesnt mean he's the best player in the draft. That's my point here.
  12. The percentage is much higher for the first round than it is anywhere else. IIRC, from picks 15-30, 50% make it, some 30% or so in the supp round to round 2, then after that it is something below 5%. I remember a study done on it a few yrs back, and this is my recollection
  13. 7 games. We could very well have swept Tampa and we've played without 2 of our best players.
  14. Example, Vitek is a good player, but they drafted him knowing he would sign for slot. He isnt even the highest ceiling player in the sox draft class, let alone the #2 prospect in the system. Ranaudo should be ahead of him, and I agree with ORS. Vitek should probably be your #10 and Lavarnway should be ahead of him
  15. f*** Joe Girardi, f*** him in the ass with a tire iron and hopefully he just goes to Chicago in the offseason. He is awful.
  16. How many times did Kearns come to the plate with runners on base today? And Curtis? You cannot be having your #4 and #5 outfielders up in big spots in big games
  17. The pitcher is a gimmick lefty who gets dominated by righties. You do not give that up, especially when Berkman has had his mechanics adjusted and looks much better of late
  18. I'll be here regardless, but I dont see it. The Yankees may be 1-5 over our last 6, but all 6 of the games were incredibly close in a division leader's ballpark. I also highly doubt Girardi can continue this string of retardedness. And we should be healthier
  19. Girardi should be burned in effigy. He is awful
  20. We'd be a 105 win team with a manager who doesnt f***ing suck
  21. Captain Punchout. f***ing Girardi gave away the division tonight. He should be garotted
  22. Thames has never hit righties well in his career. This yr is an abberation. Righties hit .421 with a .658SLG vs Choate. Keeping Berkman in guarantees the matchup you want. Putting Thames in gives you a R-R matchup, which is advantage pitcher
  23. It is just inexcuseable.
  24. Choate is a gimmick lefty, the type that gets owned by righties. Berkman would have guaranteed a righty vs lefty matchup rather than a righty righty matchup with Thames
  25. Miranda was a better option. He at least has shown some ability to hit big league pitching
