  1. I was impressed again by CC's resilience last night. He threw maybe one good slider, his change wasnt diving and he couldnt locate his fastball, but still managed to hold the sox to 1 run. Hughes needs to learn from CC a bit. If you dont have your best stuff, you can still avoid getting buttraped on national TV. But what can you say about last night. Beckett was vintage. He had every one of his pitches working. Shows he still has it. I think Mussina said it best, "As a starter, 25% of your starts, everything is working, 25% of your starts, nothing is working, and you make your hay on the 50% inbetween." Beckett last night was in the 25% where everything was working and CC was in the other 25%. Se be it. I'd rather not waste a vintage CC performance on a night where we werent gonna score anyway. The bats were finally silenced into a day off, a much needed day off. Tex and Co. need to get their s*** together for the O's, who are suddenly rejuvenated.
  2. There is nothing to wake up. Long tried to shorten his swing and he abandoned it after 3 games. If he isnt willing to tweak in response to father time, then he's done. Get his meaningless 3,000th hit then quietly move him to the bench
  3. Beckett is turning back the clock.
  4. Slade Heathcott is going OFF. 9/18 4 doubles, 1 triple, 2 homers in 4 games. Good to see the power stroke start to arrive. He'll be in Tampa soon.
  5. "Must be nice to be the Yankees...." Hey Bobby V, Chavez was signed on a minor league deal when nobody else wanted them
  6. Posada might lose his DH job to Chavez by the end of the month. His bat looks about 10 yrs younger
  7. That change was exactly where Martin wanted it. Good piece of hitting. It didnt dive like is usually does, but he isnt hanging it
  8. He doesnt look unhittable. He just faced a guy looking for a walk, and a guy who we resigned to chase a useless milestone who is well past his prime
  9. Definitely thanks to some good fortune. I do have a feeling Nova throws very well this yr. I do think we might hear about a blister after todays performance based upon him literally chewing on his pitching hand. Either that, or he's just a weird guy who chews on his pitching hand. BTW, keep an eye on St. Louis. They are 2-5 and without their ace for the season. I have a very strong feeling that Carpenter will be our #3 come the end of the season, behind CC and Burnett
  10. Yankees win. Nice. We gave yesterday away, but smacked our way to victory today. Now, we just need to win tomorrow and a good 6-3 start to the yr. Yes!
  11. His bad outings arent typically as bad as most other pitcher's bad outings. If Beckett allows 5 or more ER, then we win
  12. Silva was pretty good. The Yanks have Millwood and Silva in the minors. They have Colon and Garcia on the big league team. And they have a system chock full of big league pitching talent. Someone will click if they have to bypass Hughes. I just hope they find that person before the roof caves in
  13. CC going tomorrow, so the sox have their work cut out for them. If Beckett lays an egg tomorrow, then you arent winning
  14. Well, they are doing well today, even though this is the second suck pitching performance in a row. CC tomorrow, then a day off. If they play it right and need to bypass Hughes (PLEASE) they could get to April 16th without having to go to either Hughes or Colon. BTW, I love Russell Martin
  15. Seems like every time we score "24" runs, we come out and score 1 the next game
  16. Also, baseball ratings are tricky. There at 162 games, not 16. They are all over the place and some are played at 10pm to 1am. I bet if you looked at the ratings of Red Sox playoff games, they would rival local Patriots games
  17. Basketball hasnt jumped past baseball as far as I know. Baseball is entrenched at #2
  18. The good thing is, DRob got out of it. My hope is that Retardi is willing to allow DRob to start the sixth, then go to Joba-Sori-Mo for the win
  19. So, if Girardi's plan was to go to Robertson for any trouble, why wouldnt you just put him in to start the innings, since trouble seemed inevitable. Also, I saw Nova biting at his hand, I wonder if he has a blister
  20. I'm fine with that. Jeter was way too aggressive last season, so I am okay with him being more patient this yr
  21. I dont expect him to. But right now, I am certain Nova wont get through next inning unscathed
  22. 2 of those games were from an obviously off Hughes. Today, Nova has actually been lucky since his pitch location and WHIP are awful
  23. I dont mind Ayala. He's been in two games. In his first inning of work in both games, he's been perfect. It was his second inning vs Detroit that he got hit
