Through the first week (3 or 4 games)...
AAA
Montero- he's started out hot, hitting .400 with one homer
Noesi, Phelps, and Warren- not good in their first starts, combining for 9 walks, 6K's, 20 hits, and 10ER in 14IP.
The rest of the offense isnt really newsworthy. While Pena, Parraz and Golson are crushing the ball, none project more than Yankee backups
AA
Cody Johnson looks good thus far. He's a 22 yr old with 94 career MiLB HR's but a penchant for the K who we traded for in the offseason. He's got a TON of potential and looks good in 3 games. .417AVG with 2 doubles and 2 walks, but 3K's in 3 games is something to keep an eye on
Corban Joseph hitting .231, is the next highest batter, which is a trend for the Thunder. Mesa, Romine, Pirela, and Suttle (who are the only other notable offensive prospects in Trenton) are all under .200
In terms of pitching, Stoneburner only allowed 1ER in 5IP, but allowed 10 baserunners and only registered 1K.
Dellin Betances allowed 1ER in 4.2IP, but allowed 7 baserunners and only registered 1K.
Tim Norton, who is rebuilding his career after 2 major arm surgeries, has started off well in the pen, 5K's in 2IP with only one baserunner allowed
A+
Robert Lyerly has started off on fire. .353 with a double and a triple
Abraham Almonte, in his return from labrum surgery, has started out hot too. .333 with 2 doubles, a homer, and 3 steals. He's a 5 tool guy to keep an eye on. He'll be in Trenton before long
2 highly touted players who are struggling, Zoilo Almonte and Kyle Higashioka are 4 for 28 on the young season
In terms of the mound, Romanski started the yr off well, with a 6IP 3H 1ER performance
Sean Black also started out well, 5IP 5H 1ER 3K
Jose Ramirez also had a good peripheral performance with a bad defense hurting him a little. 4IP 2H, 2BB, 6K, 2ER
Mark Prior has thrown 2 scoreless in Tampa. He'll be moving to Scranton when the Yanks are happy with his arm strength
Brett Marshall had an abysmal start in the opener
A
Big fan of this team after they were a little too green last yr.
Slade Heathcott is 9 for 18 with 2 homers, 4 doubles, a triple and 7RBI. He'll move to Tampa once Almonte moves to Trenton
Kelvin DeLeon is starting out hot. .375 with a homer, but also 4K's. That's been his problem and if he continues to K at an epic rate, he'll fizzle
Another interesting line is that of JR Murphy. 2nd rounder from 2009, he's smacked 2 homers, but is only 3 for 17.
Segedin, Mojica, Sosa, Feliz, and Flores have all started out cold.
For the pitchers, 2 of the starts have been lights out, and 2 were terrible. Shane Greene threw 6IP with 0ER, 4H and 3K's.
Mikey O'Brien threw 6IP with 6K, 2ER, and 6 baserunners
Nik Turley and Kramer Sneed (both lefties) both got dismantled in their first starts
Tommy Kahnle threw 2 perfect innings in his debut
