  1. Robby Cano with the 3 run triple, down by 1. Looks like it'll be a battle of the pens
  2. Colon is having a rough start. Not sure if it is going to be a trend. His stuff tonight looks significantly worse than any start thus far this yr
  3. Colon throwing with less velocity and no location right now. He's getting smoked
  4. Well, you cannot lose them all
  5. Nova spins a gem, Granderson carries the O and Mo shuts EM down. Would be nice if the rest of the lineup didn't suck, but a win is a win
  6. Jeter pulled late due to a sore hip. Oh please, please be out for a few weeks. Nunez can play circles around Jeter
  7. Hughes had a cortisone shot and said he feels great. He picks up a ball again in 2 weeks. We'll see if he has something when he throws again. If he had "nothing" the next time he picks up a ball, it's time for exploratory surgery
  8. Well, Garcia ends up giving us 7+ and we werent scoring anyway.
  9. Do you think he has an ERA of 4.50 or less by year's end or not?
  10. Never said anything about being impressive. He isnt. He's crafty, ie, his stuff isnt great. But I do think he can be a guy with a 4.50ERA by year's end
  11. Then he goes out and gets the next 3 hitters. Garcia isnt a guy who will end the yr with a sub 2ERA. Nobody should expect that. But something akin to last yr isnt out of the question at all
  12. But it does, frequently. And it typically isnt the driver who dies, it's typically an innocent. You are a joke
  13. The offense is bound to heat up. Granderson is above his career OPS right now. Cano is right at last yr's OPS. Martin is above his. Aside from those two guys who are overperforming and the one guy who is performing to last yrs level, the entire team is underperforming. They will get back to the back of the baseball card. When they do, this offense will be something to watch CC didnt have it off the bat tonight, but he battled and got through 7 with a chance to win. So be it, he cannot be dominant every night out
  14. His numbers are on par with his career numbers and he's typically a slow starter. I dont see much of a change from his prior aside from the fact that he's started out hot
  15. CC didnt have his best inning, but after the second double, he settled down. The offense has been productive even without being good. They will score on Penny, I have no doubt. I just hope CC's first was an aberration rather than the norm tonight
  16. Loving what I am seeing from Colon. 7IP, 7H no walks and only 3 runs. Plenty of blown offensive opportunities, though, which will eventually even themselves out.
  17. Big homer from Grandy. BTW, I am pleased by Nova today. His fastball location has been off, and he is learning how to pitch without his best stuff. If I were Girardi, I would keep an eye on him, though. This will be the third time through the order and I would definitely have someone warming at the start of the 6th
  18. That's how the pen is supposed to work. AJ was off but the offense and the pen picked him up
  19. Was at the game last night. The sox got pretty unlucky. I thought Drew has a grand slam in the first, then the DP by Gonzalez was smoked. Lackey was awful but somehow avoided the big inning
  20. His struggles dont look like they are fixable. Posada is also in that boat. If I ran the team, Jeter would be a utility player, Posada would be our backup catcher/pinch hitter and Nunez would be our SS with Montero as DH
  21. I agree completely on the Jeter thing. His bat is a tweener right now. He's too fast for the breaking pitches and rolls them over and too slow for the heaters and he misses them or fouls them off. He's absolutely abysmal and needs to get out of the lineup ASAP
  22. Good to see Swish and Gardy breaking out. Those two guy are very necessary for this offense to move
  23. CC hasnt had his best stuff yet, but he's pitched the best I have seen in the Yankee uni. He's come a long way from a young flamethrower in Cleveland. Changing speeds, hitting spots, using the slider as an out of the zone pitch, he's been solid.
  24. Nunez is an average defender. He can make the flashy play and has a good arm, he just doesnt make the routine plays as well as Jeter. Though over a full season, I think Nunez will have a higher WAR. Nice to see the Yankees start to center a few balls. Nunez made a bad error, but a walk, a double and 2 runs scored is more than we could expect Jeter to do
  25. I dont think Colon is as Shawn Chacon-y as Garcia, although Garcia did have a mediocre season in the AL last season. Colon's stuff died for about the last 5 seasons with fastballs that would peek into the low 90s but not really ever cross the 93-95 mark. This yr, he's pumping the heat in there 92-93 on average with a max in the mid 90s. It may not be vintage Colon, but it is close. And the thing that he is doing now is he is putting tail on the heat. Back in the day, he was 96-97 4 seam gas. Now he's 92-93 2 seam heat with movement. As long as he stays healthy, I think he will be a big addition. The problem is, he is the most out of shape pitcher in baseball and he's 38, and he hasnt pitched a full season since 2005.
