  1. Exactly. This was a poor, poor move. Essentially, the Yankees released him due to spite, since they were pissed he broke his collarbone bicycling. Instead, he goes to Boston and gives them a much needed 6th and soon to be 5th starter. I've always liked Aceves, even when people on this site killed him while in pinstripes since he doesnt get a lot of K's and just gets by on command. But he will give you innings and get outs, which is the name of the game
  2. Dellin Betances is just mowing down hitters in AA. 6IP 6H 2ER 1BB 10K. His ERA skyrocketed up to 1.30 after the performance. He's struck out 39 in 34.2IP and allowed only 22H. His downfall had been his walks (16), but only 1 in this start. He wont be in AA for long, he's dominating
  3. BTW, Freddy Garcia is definitely putting on a clinic on how to pitch these days. The guy has no velocity, but everything moves and he hits his spots. Hence why he's been so successful. Reminds me of Moose from 2008 when he won 20. The guy slowed down his off speed stuff to compensate for lost velocity and was revitalized. Freddy appears to be the same way this yr. His major flaw is the fact that when he isnt locating, he will be crushed much more than your typical big leaguer because his stuff is so marginal
  4. Power is all about timing and bat speed. Granderson is wiry and has strong wrists and a quick stroke. His problem before was all in his timing. His load was so variable that he'd have days where he would be right on it and days where he was behind it. I actually went through something similar when I played. My initial swing never had a major load built into it. My coaches built one in during my freshman year, my sophomore and junior years, I was on time, but I had trouble with my timing of it my senior yr and scrapped it altogether.
  5. Do you play baseball? Just wondering, because a stance shouldn't be judged by how "pretty" it is. There have been plenty of swings that worked for hitters yet had way too many moving parts (remember Tony Batista). Granderson's swing is actually a short and sweet stroke that I'd say is something much more translatable to teach to kids than his old one was. I look at a swing in 4 parts. The load, the step, the pivot, and the swing, and curtis's swing is as quick and balanced now than anyone's around
  6. Why do you hate his stance? His hands are back, there's limited motion, there is good balance and his hands get to the ball pretty quickly. He has a great stance now, I hated his stance before
  7. He will be worth a DFA'd reliever, not a decent one.
  8. Granderson has been on another planet since Long fixed his swing
  9. CC actually threw incredibly well tonight. A couple dinkers in the 4th cost us a few runs. Good to see the offense feast on the Jays pen, but this team almost doesnt show up offensively until the 7th. They cannot continue to do this and survive. Hopefully this win kicks off a nice run of offense
  10. Perez gets behind and gets burned. Well, gnight y'all
  11. Tie ball game with rain in the air and Cabrera at the dish.
  12. Heathcott goes 3 for 5 with a triple and 3 runs scored tonight. He's hitting .315 with an .880OPS. He has been money in the OF as well. He's in prime position for a promotion
  13. He looked genuinely hurt. He couldnt walk without a limp
  14. He played for the double play. Regardless, it turned out to be a bad decision.
  15. He played to limit the damage and it burned him. With the way this team is hitting tonight, it isnt a bad idea.
  16. I agreed with the INTL walk on Rivera, although it didnt work out. The bad route by Dickerson is f***ing them this inning
  17. His hitting coach? http://shanghaiist.com/attachments/babbas/syringe.jpg
  18. Justin Masterson's No-Hitter was just broken up
  19. He's a good hitter for a middle infielder. Unfortunately for him, he's a 1b
  20. Our lineup finds ways to blow scoring opportunities. It's a joke
  21. Smart idea there. They were up in the count on him when they caught the runner stealing. Then they put him on. If the bases are open, walk him, period
  22. I dont get it. The guy has a .500+OBP and 19HRs and we still have 8 days left in May. Chances are, he's gonna get on. I'd rather it be with a walk than a HR
  23. Nova was better than his peripherals suggested. Most of the hits given up were bloopers or dribblers. What I liked was his poise, his ability to keep the ball on the ground, and his ability to limit walks. He's never gonna be an ace, but his stuff and his style will keep him very valuable for this team
