  1. they make the jump to the minors sometimes. Never to the bigs.
  2. The only depth that matters is good depth, as the sox learned this yr. Their ranks are thin at the upper levels. Your actual best prospects (Ranaudo, Jacobs, Bogaerts, Swihart) are far away
  3. Those 7 are.... Will Middlebrooks- struggled at AAA and blocked by Youkilis Ryan Kalish- coming off neck and labrum surgeries Jose Iglesias- cannot hit Ryan Lavarnway- premium bat, poor defense. If Papi returns, no role in the bigs Kyle Weiland- looks like he could be a great pitcher....in the NL Central. Kid throws a lot better out of the pen, though Felix Doubront- came to camp out of shape, injured and finished the yr a reliever. He cannot be counted on as a rotation option Alex Wilson- may be the dark horse #5 starter for the sox. He looks like he could be very good I am sorry, but I am not impressed and I doubt Theo was. There are no Ellsbury's, Pedroia's, Buchholz's, Lester's, Papelbon's, etc. There are a bunch of guys who either arent ready or have critical flaws
  4. The power is intriguing for a kid his age. We'll need to see how he handles the upper levels, but he seems like the real deal. I just think he ends up as a 3b
  5. jung, Lackey was the WORST PITCHER IN THE GAME in 2011. The WORST. He's a douchebag teammate and he's on the wrong side of 30. His stuff sucks, his command sucks, and his body language sucks. There is no reclamation project. Lackey lost his edge when he became a mercenary. Nobody will take him off your hands right now. Either he rectifies his career in Boston or the sox end up eating $50 mil over the next 3 seasons.
  6. Theo saw a major window in the farm and tried to close that window with a flashy trade and flashy signings. It blew up in his face, cause the team effectively hated each other and wilted late in the yr. I'll tell you, the 2011 sox reminded me of the mid 00s Yanks. Big money FA's with no guts who made the postseason then laid down when it counted. The sox obviously didnt get that far before lacking testicular fortitude to close the deal. The injection of kids and the acquisition of top flight talent who doubled as good teammates brought us a title in 2009. The sox got a bunch of either shy (Crawford), stupid (AdGon), or selfish (Lackey) players to go with a volatile mix of douchebags in the clubhouse. The chemistry blows and they showed it late. I think the sox may be sealing their fate for the next 2-3 yrs. You fix these problems by bringing in good signings and hungry kids. The second part wont be coming up for another couple yrs
  7. Lincecum is as good as it gets. The kid is a strikeout pitcher with great control and he's young. If he goes to the AL East, he'd still shine.
  8. Bard was a complete mess out of the rotation in the minors. They had to simplify things for him. Currently, he's a relief ace. He isnt a guy who was pushed to relief cause they needed him there, like Paps. He was pushed to relief because he couldnt function out of the rotation. This would be a bad idea.....Wait, I mean an AWESOME idea
  9. With 3 yrs of Lackey left, DiceK still on the books, and three top flight starters locked up long term, I doubt the sox make a humongous FA splash in the rotation. The sox arent as broken as they seem, they just need to be healthy and they need to have a viable starting option as their swing man.
  10. If Theo walks, I think they stay internal. Cherington would probably take the job for a yr or two, and if he strikes gold, he'll sign on long term. If not, then they will go outside the org
  11. He might sign with Chicago before the sox get their search off the ground
  12. People need to stop assuming that someone would be willing to pay $5 mil a yr for Lackey. He was the worst starter in baseball this yr. Period. Guys who put up seasons akin to his sign MiLB contracts, so that's a pipe dream. Either the sox release him and eat the whole contract, or they try to right the ship. They kinda have to try at least to get him back to functionality
  13. Don Wakamatsu is a name I heard. He's tougher than Francona and I believe he's a stathead, something the FO loves
  14. Not afraid of Valverde. Good to see the offense wake up too late. So be it. We gotta get this back to the bronx
  15. Ivan Nova is the balls. He's been awesome
  16. Robby Cano is awesome
  17. Yep, seems like the consensus is that Theo goes to the Cubs. A total house cleaning for the sox after the debachle of a season. Be careful what you wish for...
  18. Well, take a look at your drafting since 2008. Theo has drafted a ton of HS kids. They take longer
  19. Your team is without a lot of contingency in the upper minors. That's the problem
  20. I like his energy, I just wish he'd pull up a little instead of blowing his body out. Reminds me of Trot Nixon. He'd be injured yearly going all out. It's a 162 game marathon. He's gotta remember that
  21. they dont read our suggestions
  22. and he was an 8th rounder. HS kids are goldmines if you draft enough of them
  23. you can have it, I just dont want the association after the fact, that's all
  24. a700, not having the occasional rest really tired out your lineup. Having a floating DH is a good idea on a team with guys who seem injured yr in and yr out. Keeps em fresh
