    And what is missed here is Pineda's age. He was the starter in the AS game as a 22 yr old rookie. He is likely to get significantly better.

    Yankees were a half run worse in 2011 than both of those teams. The Angels got Wilson, which helps them. The Rays added nobody but subtracted nobody. The Yankees got Pineda and Kuroda AND subtracted AJ Burnett. How is that not seen as a humongous upgrade?

    Yankees rotation isnt stable? They just added Kuroda AND Pineda to their rotation and effectively subtracted Burnett and moved Hughes to the pen. The entire staff just got a major lift. The question I had last yr that still needs to be answered is if the Yankees offense can hold. I thought the major red flag last yr was that their offense put up huge numbers but came up flat as the postseason rolled around. Having a young, generation bat in the system to team with Cano and Tex long term would have gone a long way to fixing that issue. Now, we have a hole there. I have a feeling we are going to see a LOT more Nunez this yr at 3b than was initally expected. My guess is the whole Germany treatment with ARod's knee didnt inspire much confidence that he could remain in the field long term. But overall, to add a 22 yr old, large framed, control pitcher with power and punchout ability is a massive upgrade to a rotation that had a lot of ???'s after CC and Nova

    His road ERA is skewed. His road numbers that he can control? 1.17WHIP, 8.7K/9IP, 2.5BB/9IP. Those numbers are ace like. It had nothing to do with Safeco

    Pineda and Kuroda in one night while also adding a high end 19 yr old arm in Campos. Noesi was a candidate for the rotation, but I looked at him more as a Ramiro Mendoza type. Montero is the big loss here, but this rotation just got insanely good, possibly the best in the AL

    And overnight this rotation went from one with some question marks to a very, very solid and deep rotation. Kuroda is a lot better than he is given credit for.

    Yankees are definitely going to move Burnett now. There is now way they can keep him on the payroll. My guess is that the Yankees deal Burnett and about $20 mil to a NL team for peanuts

    1. Sabathia 2. Pineda 3. Nova 4. Garcia 5. Burnett This also gives the Yankees room to move Burnett while eating contract and then giving Hughes back the #5 spot. I do love the look of the rotation. And the addition of Campos is nice too. He looks to be another power pitcher with a humongous frame. I am coming around to the deal, but giving up on Montero before we can see what he can do for the long haul is tough to swallow

    Great, great, f***ing great. I love Pineda and think he'd do wonders on this team, but Montero is a true middle of the order hitter who's expectation is .300/30/100. His ceiling is something higher. He's a f***ing beast. Don't like this idea at all.

    This is exactly what the Yanks did with Bernie. Brought him back after his contract ended for a 1 yr deal at short money then effectively offered him an MiLB deal with no chance of making the squad. Its a hint from management that you're done, but it also isnt conveyed as giving up completely on a former focal point of the team
