  1. I am calling out the prediction as being significantly skewed. Aside from a massive rash of injuries, the Yanks are making the playoffs.
  2. Apparently, Joba dislocated his ankle somehow. In order to to that, you need to tear your deltoid ligaments and you typically also see a trimalleolar fracture. His recovery for the ankle alone will likely be 12 weeks before he can give it a go on the mound. Needless to say, this pushes him back from June into August.
  3. It is incredibly homerific. Cmon now. You have the sox finishing 1st, the Rays 2nd, and the Yankees 3rd not even making the playoffs. That's f***ing hilarious seeing as the sox situation is a downright mess and the Yankees improved significantly from last yr
  4. SFF, lol. Homerific
  5. Going into the season, there is no possible way you could say the #4 and 5 spots are better than they were at this time last yr. You couldnt predict that DiceK would need TJS and Lackey should have had TJS prior to the season. Also, you guys keep relying on DiceK in May. It won't get you far. He wont be the DiceK of old (was he really that good) until the playoffs come
  6. I think the struggle with V is that he and management dont agree on this one. Valentine has recently amended his comments to saying he is big league ready right now, but maybe not ready enough to help this team as much as we'd like him to. I read that as "I want him as my starting SS, but the FO doesnt agree".
  7. Lester and Bard are in two completely different modes right now. Lester has nothing to prove. If Jon throws 10 more innings this spring and gives up 15 homers, he is still the #2 behind Beckett. If Bard did that, he'd be in the pen immediately. There are two types of players in ST, guys just putting their work in and guys trying to win a job. Bard is trying to win a job, Lester is getting his work in. Big difference
  8. The sox dont read the site, I am just throwing it out there since I have said this since day 1 with him. And the Melancon point is the crux of the argument, IMO. You have an oft injured closer, a setup guy who shrinks on big stages and the solution could be the guy who is s***ing the bed in the rotation. I continue to contend that the sox would have more slack with a guy like Bard if they werent leaving 40% of their rotation to chance. If they had a #3 who they could rely on to be healthy and a #4 who could give innings, then they could be more patient with Bard. But right now, he's a disaster
  9. I told you guys first that f***ing with this kid's mojo was bad news. He was a nightmare in the minors as a starter. They had to make things simpler for his stupid ass. They cut him down to the stretch, simplified his arsenal and voila, he found it. Now, you f*** with a volatile kid and he falls apart. This may have some long reaching after effects, especially if this kid has lost his mechanics. He lost them at the end of last season and he has shown no inkling that he's found them again. It took them nearly 2 yrs to get his mechanics in line and who knows how long it will take for him to get them back. After walking no more than 4 batters in an inning since September of 2010, he walked an astounding 9 in September (career high). He comes off that and goes through an offseason where he needs to reincorporate the full windup and get ready as if he is going to be a starter. He comes in and walks 7 in 7.2IP and now is all out of whack. You guys thought I was a homer or was crazy, but he was a volatile kid who they straightened out, and now they've f***ed him all up again. Stupid move, and who knows how long he might be lost for out of the pen. I also think Melancon has played into this. From everything I have seen and heard, he hasnt looked good and locking him into the 8th inning role might be giving Valentine some serious reflux. My bet is that Aceves and Doubront take the 4 and 5 slots and Padilla rots in the long role until Doubront or Aceves s*** the bed.
  10. He did come to camp fat. We'll see if he works it off
  11. Baseball is a funny game, isn't it? Last yr I didn't think there was any way the Yankees were winning the east, and they did easily. This yr, I don't see how the Yankees could lose the east, but we'll see. ALW-Angels ALC-Tigers ALE-Yankees ALWC-Rangers ALWC-Rays-Red Sox (1 game playoff) NLE-Marlins (Phils without Utley and Howard for now) NLC-Reds NLW-Giants NLWC-Phillies NLWC-Cardinals
  12. Bobby V is trying to motivate him.
  13. There is no way around it. The guy has come into ST with nothing handed to him in terms of the rotation and he has sucked hard his last 2 starts. I wouldnt be surprised if he is moved to the pen
  14. Sitting 92-93, hit 95mph. Improving!
  15. TJS for relievers is typically a bit shorter than starters. For a starter, you dont see significant return until about 18 months. For relievers, you'll see the stuff back earlier, but it is the stamina and consistency that comes later
  16. Nobody should ever say that. Listen, I love the acqusition of Pineda and I think he is a hell of a talent. Right now, they either have to deal away some veterans or cut someone. I'd rather they get something back in return than let someone go for free
  17. No, he isnt that good, but he would be a serious upgrade over what most teams have in their #4 or #5 spots. I am sure we could get a B level prospect or a good bench player for him if he comes out pitching like he did last season.
  18. Also, Pineda is our second best pitcher. But we have such insane depth that we may put Pineda in AAA to guy time for Garcia to build more stock and then move him for something we might need.
  19. Ortiz wasnt accused of it. He cheated too, he failed a drug test, which is something Pettitte never did. One would then assume what Ortiz used was way worse than what Pettitte used.
  20. I never said he didnt cheat. I just disputed the fact that he was on synthetic anabolic steroids, that he "failed" a drug test (they were in screening trials then, no pass or fail) and that he was dodging a suspension. Semantics my friends. Of course he cheated
  21. LOL, you're funny. Bard's SSS this spring is much worse than his prior springs. I maintain my belief that Bard is in the pen come midseason
  22. He didnt use a steroid. HGH is a hormone. Regardless, he was never in violation of the MLB code as HGH was banned after his use.
