Btw, the ABs vs Betances were hilarious. Davis and Kinsler swung at breaking pitches in the dirt, but swung as if they didn't see the ball. They were straight guessing and got badly fooled. Our pen has some serious firepower
Eovaldi looked good tonight. His slider is a bit flat but on the whole, he is a horse. High 90s sinker and a splitter that looked untouchable for about 6 innings. The raw stuff is insane and tonight he did it against one of the best offenses in baseball
High end offense and suspect pitching was our MO from 04-08. We made the playoffs 4 of those 5 years, but didn't see the WS once and only won a round once. You can bash your way to the post season, but good pitching will shut down good hitting in October.
He's certainly not a hero. You won't hear me ever say that. He's a player on the team. As such, I hope he hits well. And NS, solid addition to the thread. Just solid. Your insight is incredibly useful and highly relevant. And I'm lying
If the sox make the playoffs it is because of their bats. Everyone aside from the rosy glasses wearing pink hats knew the sox rotation stunk. It isn't a surprise
And I get that ARod is in a different league of cheaters since he is a post PED crackdown cheat. Then again, I say so be it. He paid a price that no other steroid user has ever paid. And the idea that he and the Biogenesis guys are the only one using it is a farse. A lot of players are still using theoretically banned substances. It still changes nothing. I was hoping he'd have had his contract voided. Since he cannot, then he's still a member of our team and still wears the colors. When he is at the dish, I hope he hits homers
I've been consistent on the PED issues in the past. I honestly don't give a f*** if someone used. But to be a Red Sox fan and lambaste us for having a steroid user on the team is the pot calling the kettle black. Your best player over the last decade is also a steroid cheat. Your best player from 01-08 was a huge steroid cheat. My only hope out of the ARod debacle was that his contract would be voided. Since it couldn't be, what am I gonna root against him? That's just plain dumb and reeks of a massive lack of intelligence.
If he performs, all is forgiven. Btw, the Tanaka we see today is the guy he was last year. Confident, throwing 4 seamers in and out and dropping sick breaking pitches off the heat. He doesn't need 95mph, but he needs to work off his FB
Yankees disjointed again. They really seem so akin to last season it isn't funny. Days we hit, we cant pitch, days we pitch we cant hit. Days our starter hands the pen the lead, they don't hold it. Very frustrating start to the year.
Bogaerts has the talent. But we have also seen this before. The guy was hitting .303 with an OPS over .800 on June 1 last year. He has the tools to be a major contributor. He just needs to show it for 6 months instead of 2.
Still not impressed with Tanaka. I am seeing more fastballs, but he seems to get ahead 0-2 and doesn't throw a ball near the plate. I want to see more of that confidence he had last yr.
