  1. You left off the Astros closer, Giles
  2. Severino vs Santana. Sounds like Sano will PH but won’t be in the lineup. That’s a big loss on their end, but they played like gangbusters without him in the last two months. It’s a one gamer. We wipe them out in a series with home field, but anything can happen in a one gamer. Here’s to hoping the Yankees prevail!
  3. In a series, I’d agree. This is one game. Anything can happen
  4. Farrell did a fine job this year. He’s no tactician. But he somehow took a team that relied on hitting in 2016 back to the AL East crown while seeing the hitting decline rapidly. He took a team built on pitching, lost the #2 starter to injury and still won with pitching. He coddled a pen built from scraps and Kimbrel into a good pen. Farrell gets a lot of s*** for his game management, and he deserves that criticism. But he took a team that turned out not to be very good when you look at all the parts individually, and turned them into division winners. The sox overachieved based on performance and pythag this year. They won close games. They continually came back to win. They didn’t bludgeon teams like they did last year.
  5. We didn’t “squeak” into the playoffs. We have 91 wins and the second best run differential in baseball. We also have the deepest pen of all the teams in the postseason. We clinched a postseason berth over a week ago. Plus, I entirely believe we can beat Cleveland, but we clearly need to take care of business Tuesday before we can talk about that. With our pen, we can have our starter go 4 innings and then just unload with pitchers with big arms and tiny ERA’s. We wouldn’t even need to burn out a guy like the Guardians did with Miller a year ago. Our offense can hit as well and is finally healthy. We also have an ace that can matchup with anyone and a top 3 in Sevy, Gray, and CC that can stand up to all team’s starters except maybe Washington’s. I’m not saying that if we win Tuesday, that we’re locks for the WS. I just don’t think it’s the whitewash you’re proposing.
  6. Another Porcello lover. Man, I can’t think of a worse matchup. Porcello at the Fens vs these righty homerun hitters
  7. That’s bold. Porcello is a homer happy pitcher facing a homer happy team in a park catered to right handed power. He’d be a ballsy pick
  8. You go with your best if that’s properly delineated. I think it isn’t here. Throwing a third lefty in there who throws hard like your top 2 is going to give the Stros far too consistent a look at the plate. Shaking things up with Fister is the right play.
  9. Agreed with the thrill of playoff baseball. Also, I think Fister has to be the guy. 3 lefties to start the PO's against a righty stacked team is probably not the best look
  10. Thornburg has thoracic outlet surgery. See Matt Harvey when you want to see what the outcomes are with that. You cannot count on Thornburg. If he comes back and throws well, good for you. If he doesn't, then that's the natural progression.
  11. My concern for the sox, assuming I am rooting for them to beat the astros (that will only come if we win Tuesday, btw) is the fact that you're facing an elite offense without anything resembling elite pitching after Sale. Pom was really good this year, but he won't give you any depth and since the Stros just saw him today, I think they will be ready for him come next week. I have a feeling the series will be a slugfest outside of Keuchel-Sale, and I don't think the sox have the bats to hang with that mash unit in Houston
  12. We can beat Cleveland. With our pen and Girardi unleashed, I think we can beat them. We can outlast Kluber and Carrasco. My concern is Keuchel. You guys need to beat them. We NEVER hit him and against us, he can go 9.
  13. Judge with a bomb for #52. Seriously, 52 homers for the rookie. Insane
  14. Congrats guys. Good fight for the division. See you in the playoffs, I hope
  15. notin, if the sox lose out and the Yankees win out, there’ll be a one game playoffs between NYY and BOS with the loser playing the following g day vs MIN.
  16. If the Guardians win Saturday, then the Stros have literally nothing to play for Sunday. The top spot in the AL has Cleveland with the tie breaker, so the only was the Stros can win the top spot is to actually beat the Guardians.
  17. The good thing about today was how dominant Tanaka was. Man, he was dealing. I think he locked down our #4 spot should we win the WC game
  18. tall and lean usually age well. Short guys don't.
  19. You will need two wins from Sale to win the series. Pom has shown little lately, so you may not be able to count on him. Your best #3 candidate got torched by your likely opponent. You’ll probably need a fourth starter as well since I don’t anticipate Sale and Pom will go on short rest.
  20. Interesting to see Girardi keep Gray out there. I know Gray is one of our horses, but he clearly didn’t have it and Joe has been quick to pull pitchers when they get into trouble. His delay cost us heavily. That being said, if Cleveland wins another game tonight, I anticipate the Stros would have folded the final two games anyway.
  21. We don’t count differently. When you hear a player goes on 3 days rest, it’s in the situation you describe.
  22. So a light hitting, minor league infielder can replace Pedroia’s offensive production? Ridiculous
  23. That is not 4 days rest, it’s 3
  24. Btw, my ranking of Loaisiga might be way too low. I floated a ? On another site and was ridiculed for his 30s ranking. So be it
