  1. And if the wallet isn't open, the team's position in the standings will drop
  2. Kahnle with some gas. 3 more out
  3. Alright, I spit my water out on this one
  4. Machado's signing would effectively be the harbinger of the cliff.
  5. Betances is a mess. s***
  6. I was almost going to call him Jess Moran, lol
  7. Severino throws a gem today. 2 hard hit balls left the park, but otherwise, he dominated. Our offense took advantage of their bad defense. We are 6 outs away from seeing Kluber in game 5
  8. Machado isn't signing this close to FA. You'll need to give the Jays a lot more than ERod for Donaldson, especially since the Jays say they plan to contend in 2018. Cobb is looking at a Mike Leake type contract, so dealing a controllable starter and then replacing him with an $17 mil per annum starter is questionable. You must remember that your minor league system has been absolutely devastated and did not have a good 2017, hence the cupboard is bare beyond Chavis. Groome and Mata are so far off that they wont be centerpieces of deals. I have a feeling you're dealing Bradley this year.
  9. Then the question remains. Do you go $30 mil over on short term deals or do you give out long term deals? Short term deals keep you flexible to re-sign FA's. Long term deals means you're gonna lose some guys
  10. The biggest question is... What is your 2018 budget? If the goal is to stay close to the max, then no big moves will be made. If Henry says, f*** it, we re-set, lets go for the win, then all bets are off. One thing I will put out there. Without a big addition to the middle of your order, your team will not win in the post season. Your offense must improve. The Astros, the Guardians, the Yankees all have big offenses. Minnesota is on the uptick offensively as well. The Jays and the O's have offensive potential as well. You need to be able to change with the times and hit homers
  11. The Yankees 2018 will be better than this one. We are on the up right now and giving the favorites in the AL all they can handle.
  12. The Steinbrenner boys took over the team in 2008. Since that time, we have: 1 WS title 3 ALCS appearances 6 playoff appearances Never a season under .500 And we have a team currently in the playoffs with the arrow pointing straight up from an organizational perspective Since the beginning of 2008 for the sox 1 WS title 2 ALCS appearances 5 playoff appearances 3 last place finishes Your team is at its apex and still title contending The Steinbrenner boys did something their father would not and it will lead to a demonstrably better next decade. He let us rebuild, and it didn't take long
  13. It's never out of the question, unfortunately.
  14. Nice that you picked the Henry era, since we won 4 titles right before he arrived. LOL
  15. 2 hard hit balls all game, both ended up over the fence. Sevy starts the 6th, but I have Green waiting. He should be recovered from his beating
  16. Sox are basically over the cap before the stove even starts. How far do they go? Do they just blow past or do they tinker with the team? I think everyone and their brother knows the sox need to add some offense. It will be interesting to see how much cash DD is allotted.
  17. I think you guys go for JD and maybe a fallback for Duda. JD would play 1b
  18. I think the sox throw their hat in the ring for Martinez. It's a DD kind of move, and DD also found JD in Detroit. You don't have the goods to get Donaldson, and the Jays have stated that they aren't rebuilding and plan to contend in 2018. Beltre turns 39 in April and still is playing well, but I also think the Rangers will try to contend in 2018 as well. Heck, if Minnesota can make the playoffs, then so can the Rangers or Jays, right?
  19. Yes you will. Your salary is rising and you've lost your starting 1b and your 4th OFer without a true replacement in house. You're going over the cap. How far over may impact your ability to bring Kimbrel back when he hits FA after 2018, especially with big arb raises which will hit for 2019.
  20. Hosmer would be a very bad signing for the Red Sox. He's a year removed from being worse than a replacement player. He's a left handed hitter who wouldn't be a power upgrade over Moreland. His BB and K rates were around his career averages for 2017, but his BABIP was insane (.351) , which was a career high by a lot. He's also a defensive liability with a negative UZR/150 for the past 2 seasons. I think he is going to get a huge contract based on numbers that aren't reproducible and in Fenway, his power will drop considerably
  21. The offense is laying the wood here. Get those two home, cmon Headley
  22. Sevy is dominating right now
  23. and it burns him for game 5 as a reliever should Kluber s*** the bed again.
  24. Guys, Devers is a thick bodied 3b who routinely f***s up in the field. He's a 1b long term. I do not think the sox should pay big money to occupy a position that Devers will be occupying in the next few years. The kid has an exciting bat for sure, but don't fool yourself. He's not a long term 3b.
