  1. Rivera is the greatest pitcher of all time. His regular season record is astounding. His post season record is astronomical. He threw the equivalent of 2 full reliever seasons (140IP) yet allowed less batter to score on him than men who’ve walked on the moon
  2. I’m flattered, lol. I am giddy about this Yankee team. I haven’t seen this type of team in a decade. Offense picks each other up, pen locks things down, rotation has spurts of brilliance mixed with “just good enough”. No single spot has divebombed any game and the additions from Colorado (Tauchman, Lemahieu, and Ottavino) have added a grittiness to the club that was lacking. We seem to fall behind in every game by a run or two then blow teams out. The drama level in the games has been high. The drama in the division race, not so much
  3. Frazier as a headline will get us most players. I don’t think we are offering Frazier. Part of what is gonna make this team great for awhile is the alternating arb schedules. Having a prearb LF next year is a great thing. I don’t think we offer Frazier or Garcia unless we get a true ace. I like Stroman, but he doesn’t headline this rotation and between German, Tanaka and Paxton, he could slot anywhere from 1-4. That doesn’t even consider our actual ace, Severino. I’m not looking to deal big prospects for a guy who might be our playoff 4 when the POs roll out. The guys I empty the farm for are currently locked into wild card slots. Bauer and, to a greater extent, Scherzer are guys I pretty much ask the other team what they want and just say yes.
  4. If the Sox find a way into the WC and then win the playin game, we will decimate them.
  5. That’s less about ability and more about durability. A healthy Pollock is way better than Jackie
  6. No, he’s not. Gun to my head, he ends up in Houston
  7. So the Sox are clearly in the wild card race and up to two weeks ago, there were at least seven teams in the race. It’s now down to 4. The Angels continue to play .500 ball. The White Sox feel off a cliff. The Rangers are now 5.5 back and looking to sell their ace. Currently, the Guardians own the top WC spot after winning 6 in a row. The A’s have gone 8-2 in their last ten and occupy the second WC spot. TB has spiraled and is now 2 back in the L column. The Sox sit a game back at 3 behind in the L column. The Guardians have the easiest road. The A’s have a tougher road, but they also historically are a second half team. The Rays road gets easier in August. The Sox road is rough starting in 3 games then gets easier by September. It’s gonna be an interesting ride to see who takes the WC
  8. This is crazy. Yes, Means is great, but you got three innings against the worst mess you could muster in the O’s pen and did nothing with it. And Price got lit up. Wow. I watched the game until I fell asleep. The Sox looked dead out there. No bounce, no magic. Just dead.
  9. Hey Kimmi, that back to back to back to... is looking a little dicey, eh?
  10. Not this year. The numbers don’t lie and with the games I’ve seen, they back up the numbers. He’s been a minus defender this year. He looks a step slower and heck, he’s made some errors this year. His UZR/150 is -5.5. This is the first season he’s been a negative in his career.
  11. Another day, another win. The offense is cranking. Happ was elusive, albeit not great. The pen threw 4 shutout innings. Now up 11 in the L column to the Rays and 13 to the Sox.
  12. You’re not resetting this offseason. It ain’t happening. You’d have to rely on crap prospects to fill the holes and you’d have to say goodbye to multiple good talents. DD isn’t blowing it up. The Sox won 7 of their last 10 and are starting a 3 gamer vs the O’s. There’s a very good chance the Sox run their record to 10-3 in their last 13 before facing the Rays and Yanks. The Sox are 2 games back of Oakland for the final wild card spot.
  13. This is could very well be a disaster and I’m gonna grab my popcorn for it!
  14. Also, the latest rumor I saw was that the Sox head scouts were watching the Giants-Mets game. That immediately led to MadBum or Thor rumors, but it seems the Sox were there to scout Watson and Smith.
  15. Abreu isn’t what he once was. His K and BB rates are going the wrong way. His BA has declined from his peak as well making his OBP pretty woeful for a 1b. Also, his defense isn’t good. For the season, he’s at 0.8 WAR. He not an upgrade over Chavis
  16. German has become an ace. There’s no way around that. Dominant again, 12 wins. Great K rate and walk rate. He had a little blip before he went on the DL where he was getting shelled, but when healthy this year he’s been nails. Green-Cortes-Cessa handled the Rays in game 2. The Rays are now 10 games back in the L column and only one ahead of the Sox. Neither are in the drivers seat for a WC. Really fun year this year
  17. Those second contracts are where DD has tripped up. They’re franchise killers. Cabrera’s second contract is literally going to sandbag Detroit for the next 4-5 years. Sale’s second contract is gonna be a killer. Eovaldi’s second contract is already proving a loss. The only one he signed that looks good is Bogey’s and that wasn’t by design. Bogey decided to push the issue and took less money. Sale’s contract doesn’t even start til next year. Good luck with 5 years of that crap. DD hasn’t learned from the past. Yes, your payroll is way above everyone else’s but that’s only because DD can’t let go of the past. Retooling is something that EVERY franchise does on a yearly basis. You can’t just keep the band together and expect the same results. Tweaking is needed for every team, and if you aren’t getting better, you’re getting worse.
  18. The Sox absolutely do not scare me this season. They’re a mess on the mound both in the rotation and the pen and the offense isn’t as scary as it used to be. If the Sox find their 2018 magic at some point, fine, but I would rather face the Sox in the ALDS then most any other wild card team
  19. Yup. Pinch run and some defense come October. Add him to the 40 man after the trade deadline. This is one weapon we haven’t had in awhile. Gardner actually served this purpose when we won it all in 2009. Having a guy who you can reliably put into a game in the 8th or 9th and turn a walk or single into a double and then score is a big advantage to have.
  20. This is the Dave Roberts move
  21. He won’t be on the 40 man off the rip, but he will probably end up on our post season 25 man as a SB specialist
  22. You aren't gonna get "just as much value" coming back. The hope would be that you get a package of prospects you could dream on. You won't get a blue chipper for him, but if I were Dave, I would be diving deep. You can get some really good prospects if you decide to deal for players in the short season leagues. The closer the proximity, the less of a return
  23. The Yanks and Rays have used openers with bulk starters afterwards. The Sox haven’t done that yet, using traditional starters. So their pen numbers are true. The Rays and ours, not so much
  24. Rebuilding entails having some depth in your farm to hand the reigns over to. There is nobody in that farm system likely to lead the next chapter. Yes, you can deal off some parts, but there’s no way your GM is gonna deal off guys who will actually return something. If you deal off your rentals, you’ll get scraps. Now, deal Mookie? Then you might be talking about something, but that won’t be enough to rejuvenate a farm that has been raped, pillaged and neglected for four years now. I know you guys think DD has a Chapman deal in him, but that deal was one of many at the time. We had a .300 hitter on his way to 30 homers in Beltran. We had a lock down closer in Chap. We had a shut down reliever in Miller. We dealt all three off for a good return. But we also had Judge, Sanchez, Sevy, Andujar, Montgomery, Bird, and others home grown and MLB ready. This is what you lack. We added to a wave that was coming. There is no wave in The Sox MiLB
  25. The dodgers are good, but their strength is a weakness vs us. When all the parts are there, we crush lefties and their top two are left handed.
