  1. https://www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article/51383/2019-prospects-the-midseason-50/
  2. Garcia is a top 25 prospect right now. He made every midseason top 25 list. I’d have no problem moving Florial for Stroman. I have a problem moving Garcia for him
  3. They were looking to build a bonfire
  4. Apparently they did because they gave him away for practically nothing
  5. He’s still pitching like his fastball is 97. You can miss location at 97 to some degree and get away with it. You cannot miss location or challenge batters at 92
  6. I think Porcello is done. He’s always had marginal velocity but has managed with prime movement and location. His balls aren’t moving and his location is far too often middle middle. He’s still young enough, but he’s been a big leaguer since he was 20 and has tons of miles on his arm. I don’t think there’s another gear for him to get to
  7. He just turned 20, he’s in AAA and in 90IP between A+, AA, and AAA, he’s struck out 138 with 42 walks while allowing only 80 hits. He’s four years younger than most prospects in his league and 6 years younger than the AAA average. He’s short, but he can run it up to 95 and has a curve and change that grade out as plus pitches now with the curve having plus plus potential. He’s an animal. You don’t deal that for anyone but an ace. That’s because he’s got now production and now proximity. I probably would have thrown Gil out for Stroman. Not because I believe any less in Gil, but because Gil just got promoted to High A and is further down the line
  8. I don’t have a problem holding Garcia for Stroman. I posted before. Stroman is shorter than Garcia and isn’t an ace. His xFIP is essentially the same the past two seasons yet his ERA is 3 runs lower this year. He’s a contact oriented pitcher who isn’t an ace. If you deal a top 25 prospect, you better get a top notch player. Stroman is good, but he isn’t an ace. Clearly, the rest of the league didn’t think so either which is why he went to the Mets for a middling return
  9. They weren’t asking for prospects only. They were asking for Torres, a two time all star
  10. You're gonna have a hell of a time winning the division. We play you 4 times in 3 days and if you don't sweep those game, you aren't gonna sniff the division. We play 11 games in 10 gays vs the O's and Jays after the sox series. While we are literally dealing with near auto wins, you'll have the auto-win Royals then have to play the Angels and @CLE before killing the Orioles. The sox lack a true long run of sucky opponents like we are about to jump into. We both go to the west coast at the same time then you come home to the Twins and Yanks for 7 games. We all know the history of the sox on the left coast. The you finish the year bookending some tough play with 3 at Toronto and 3 home vs Baltimore (auto wins), but inbetween you'll play at PHI, home vs SF, @TB and @TEX.
  11. The Sale contract was a 5 yr $145 mil deal. I thought, for lux tax purposes this year, that his option is the contract for this year and $29 mil is on the book as an AAV through the next 5 seasons.
  12. Jordan Montgomery has been throwing live BP for 2 weeks now and may end up an option for us by September
  13. Sale is losing his fastball. He needs to stop fighting it. The days he has the heat, he is good. The days he doesn't, he is not. He clearly still has swing and miss stuff with diminished velocity, but he needs to start considering pitching to contact
  14. Paxton's stuff is still there. Tanaka is definitely diminished from what he was when he came in, but he's mostly the same as last year. Happ and CC, absolutely agree
  15. I don’t think the talent is there to be totally honest. Price’s raw talent level has diminished, but he’s getting by with veteran guile and location. Sale’s raw talent has diminished. Porcello’s raw talent has diminished. The only guy who’s raw talent is on the upswing is ERod
  16. The Yankees aren't a big culprit on this though. They had Judge start the yr in the majors in 2017. Montgomery as well. They did do it with Gleyber, but that was because we had a major league 2b in Walker who slumped like hell and got replaced. We also brought up Andujar last year before we would have gotten an extra year
  17. and so were the posters who questioned the $23 mil given in 2019 to Eovaldi and Pearce while letting the pen rot. The budget is not unlimited. Hence, you should have some form of a pen so you can close out the winnable games that your highly expensive team is going to present to your pen
  18. I am perplexed as to why he isn't in NY right now. Frazier should be getting reps as a FT DH and part time OF. Didi twisted his wrist and Gio rolled his ankle yesterday. If EE is pressed into 1b duty, one of Didi and Gio can play tomorrow and Lemahieu returns, we will have an open DH slot. I know we used Judge there last night and maybe the plan will be to use Gardner there tomorrow and ease these guys in, but we are very likely to face 4 lefties in 3 days. ERod goes tomorrow. Johnson is throwing one of the games of the DHer. They haven't listed a starter for the other DH game, but Sale is lined up. Then we get Price for the Sunday finale. Frazier has historically demolished left handed starters in both the majors and minors (really small SS this year). He's the perfect guy to set it and forget it at DH for this series.
  19. He’s done for the year after shoulder surgery. We don’t need to hold a space for him. Chapman is working through some stuff. He always has a month like July every year. Loses his command, then finds it. Hope he finds it soon because he’s almost unplayable in a 1 run game
  20. Trust me, I’m not happy. JA Crap is gonna be on the hill again. Cardiac Cripple Sabathia is gonna be on the mound again. Don’t have a problem with Tanaka-Paxton-German. I know Tanaka had another strange outing today, but he is nails in the postseason. But we need another guy. We cannot be doing the opener s*** in a playoff series. We are now at a point where we are relying on Severino and that’s not a good thing. Betances to the pen will be a big boost. Stanton plus all the other guys will be a boost to the offense. But we needed a starter and it sounds like the prices are astronomical. The fact that the Astros are paying Greinke and gave up 4 top flight prospects is absolutely mind boggling. The Astros just created their cliff
  21. With the Sox not getting a pen arm, at least I’m reassured that the Sox did nothing to fix their problem while we have some reinforcements coming
  22. I read what the DBacks wanted for Ray and I’m glad Cash passed. But I’m disappointed we did nothing when we needed a starter. My hope is that Severino is looking good and he’s the savior we were looking for. The Astros sold out today. Martin, Beer, Bukauskas are very highly regarded. They’re doubling down for 2019. I can only hope they get knocked off before we see them
  23. The Astros gave up nearly their entire farm beyond Tucker and Whitley. Wow.
  24. No word on details. Wtf?
