    It will take him mastering his command of his fastball and adding a cutter/2 seamer. A guy like CC was a 95mph fastball, 85mph slider, 85 mph change guy. When the FB dropped to 90, the secondary pitches didn't lose their velocity and the difference wasn't there. So he slowed down the breaking ball and the change. He added a cutter and a 2 seamer. He varied the break on the slider to create a curve and slider with the same release point. He went from a 3 pitch pitcher to a 6 pitch pitcher. He went from being hammered to giving up the lowest exit velo in the game for a season. He also learned to throw all of his pitches to all 4 corners of the zone. He learned how to take hitters out of the zone with finesse and not power. It took years. Sale has to make that transition and refine his command

    Boone has been pretty laid back this year. He’s fine punting games vs rivals or teams chasing us, which I’ve yet to understand. You wanna give DJ a night off? Wait til Baltimore tomorrow. Heck, you can give him the first two games of the series off. He’s done this against TB too which really pisses me off. Play the season like you want to beat the teams you’re chasing. Instead, it’s almost as if he’s playing the season to win the games you should win then let the chips fall where they may vs the chief rivals. I guess it’s a good way to boost win totals, but games vs your rivals or vs the Rays count as two games in the standings

    9 up in the L column with 11 straight vs the Os and Jays. We are gonna be fine so long as we can get healthy. Good news is Didi is back in the lineup. Sanchez should return this week as well. But losing EE for the next 6 weeks and Hicks for who knows how long is gonna be problematic.

    The trend for starters is to be on the hot seat the third time through the lineup and not see the same lineup 4 times. This is driven by analytics, so the idea that the sox rotation will all of a sudden start throwing more pitches is fallacy. Where they could improve is being more economical, but I don't see that happening. If anything, Sale is set to be less economical in becoming a crafty lefty. Price is less economical now as he is a crafty lefty. ERod by his own nature is not economical. Eovaldi can be, but he doesn't stay healthy and always seems to find the one big inning that knocks him out.

    When I made my window post, I thought a Greinke AAV at longer years was possible. Once concerns about the shoulder crept in, I was shocked he ended up with what he got. DD has to be kicking himself

    Sale needs to embrace Father Time to be good. Yes, he can K a bunch of people, but his inconsistent velocity means far more balls hit into the seats. It took CC 3 years to eventually embrace it and become a "crafty lefty".

    No DJ in the starting lineup. He was previously injured and played both ends of the DHer, so my guess is we see him as a PHer if at all. The lineup the Yanks are running out there is weak sauce

    Happ threw well vs the DBacks, but he’s been our Porcello this year. Price did well vs us in his only start. Our lineup is gonna be pretty weak with Hicks and EE out.

    Just an FYI, you cannot read into the Rays and Yanks "pen" numbers. With how many openers and bulk guys the Yanks and Rays have used, the designation is incorrect. The second pitcher in any opener game should be counted as the starter. Heck, the Rays will start a guy who throws 1.1IP and then bring in a guy like Yarborough who finishes the game out, yet 7.2IP was designated to the pen
