So here’s the rundown of this crazy injury list
Severino- expected to start mound work this week. No hiccups since he restarted throwing. On track for an early September return
Betances- expected to start mound work a few days after Severino. No hiccups since he started throwing. On track for early September return
Stanton- no timetable for his knee sprain, but he’s begun running on a treadmill. From there he’ll do agility drills, hitting and a rehab assignment. My bet is he’s ready around the same time as Sevy
Voit- says he will avoid surgery but has a follow up this week. At the appointment, they’ll determine if surgery is recommended now or if it can wait into the off season
Montgomery- threw live BP last month. No word on further progression. I assume he’s still throwing
Andujar- our for the year
Hicks- avoided injury to the UCL or so they say. They’re calling it a “flexor strain”. Means far less to position players as it does to pitchers if the diagnosis is accurate. Expected to resume throwing in 10 days. He’s likely to return in 2-3 weeks. Even if he needs forearm or TJ surgery at some point, he will likely be able to avoid it until the offseason
Sanchez- expected to return for the Toronto series
Gleyber- Core injury, but his dad tweeted out that he is fine and is traveling with the team. I’d assume he’s not going to play tonight but may have avoided significant injury
Urshela- likely to take a few days off after fouling balls of both his legs, but should avoid the DL
CC- expected to return this week
Hale- who knows
Encarnacion- 3-5 week timetable sounds optimistic. If they don’t mess with it like we did with Judge last year, we could see him at the 6 week mark, which would bring us to mid September
Weird year. Our AAA club has lapped the ALE. Cashman and Boone have done an incredible job
