  1. Paxton rounding into form for the post season. Dominance today. ERod was up to the task as well. Great matchup
  2. I never said the Yanks don't spend. I just rebutted the thought that the Yanks bought their 2009 title without accepting the fact that the sox did the same thing last year
  3. Ah yes, lashing out. Very common for the young fans who don't get their way. Enjoy the next 5 years bud!
  4. Um. Don't want to burst your bubble... But take a look at who won last year and how much they spent. Sorry to take you down a notch
  5. I'd assume that you would use appropriate grammar when calling someone an idiot.
  6. You don't become a billionaire without having the ability to remove emotion from your business decisions
  7. Yes, you were. Credit where it is due. I think some people called you out on that
  8. Yeah, one died and others underperformed. But he had nearly no later round guys pop. His IFA strategy was absolutely terrible and this past year he essentially didn’t go after any of the good talents. He never dealt for IfA money and heck, he never dealt away IFA money losing a chance at getting someone for it. He completely avoided the player development piece
  9. The other thing you need to consider is body type. These quick twitch smaller players usually don’t age well. I don’t extend Betts at all. I also don’t go after him on the FA market
  10. They won a title in 13 mostly by sheer luck as the same roster faded into two last place finishes. You can’t hope for sheer luck. You need to rebuild with actual future talent. No Allan Craig and Joe Kelly.
  11. Going halfway is a waste. All it does is ensure you stay in the middle and remain mediocre. Any GM coming in needs to have a 3 year plan. After 3 seasons, Price, Pedroia, and Eovaldi are up. The expanded cash at that point should allow better acquisitions and presumably your farm will be better. If I was Henry, I’d sell off the short term parts that have value and add in some of the financial advantage JD plus money to another AL club for a true prospect ERod for a haul Betts for a haul Hope that Price or Sale recoup value next year and deal at deadline with cash I’d also trade Beni. Build around Xander and Devers
  12. I think the Reds are your target. They also have some really solid prospects with Greene, Lodolo and India. I’d call them on Nov 1 and ask for 2 of the 3.
  13. They were delirious enough to think they were competing. This was coming off the signings of Cobb and Cashner
  14. Do the sox package a player of desire and a player with a bad contract and try to gain financial freedom?
  15. So now that DD is gone, I think the writing is on the wall for Betts. I think the likelihood is he is dealt. But heck, I could be wrong. A lot will be determined by the type of GM acquired to run the show. If you get someone from a smaller market, then the likelihood is that you're rebuilding. Previously, I threw out the idea that the Sox trade with the Mets to get some pitching plus Nimmo in the OF. With the fact that DD is gone, I think the sox will shoot lower in terms of level but higher in terms of upside. Maybe a 1 for 5 and get at least one premium prospect with the other 4 having big league upsides. The suitor list will be long and the fact that Betts is on a 1 yr deal should make it better for those who would be scared away by his pricetag. One team who is a dark horse for Betts is the Reds. They made some deals with the intent of being contenders next year. With Bauer on his last year and all the talent they brought in, I wouldn't be surprised to see them offer something big. Heck, maybe you get Hunter Greene coming off TJS plus others for him? With Puig gone, they will need OFers
  16. Slav, I think you deal ERod. I am almost certain that if Betts goes, ERod is right behind him. Second arb is usually pricey albeit not as bad as the final year and arb takes into account 2 years of production. His last 2 years have been pretty solid. He is gonna get paid. And if the sox are clearing out, there is no point in holding onto him during two down seasons. The Yanks and Rays aint going anywhere the next 2 seasons, so you might as well get a haul for him and jumpstart the talent acquisition phase of the rebuild
  17. Nobody gives a s*** about a farm system until it is needed. Nobody batted an eye when DD dealt away all those players, most of which didn't make as much of an impact as the guys brought in. Listen, I would say his deals were winners. His losses were that he didn't know when to say stop. He brings guys in, breaks and resets the market with them when the time comes and essentially rides his best teams until they retire. It leads to incredible success and then incredibly overpaid players who cannot play anymore. You needed your farm this year. You needed a pitcher to step in for Sale and Price and Eo. You had nobody. Everyone else got better, the sox got worse and thinner. That is on DD. That is why he is likely heading into retirement
  18. I think everyone expected the window to be longer. Heck, I am a yankees fan and I thought their window would last longer.. Here is the biggest issue that all sox fans should have with DD. Yes, he raped and pillaged, burned and salted the earth on the farm. But he added literally nobody of consequence beyond Casas. And Casas isn't a singular talent. He's a 1b who hits homers. He essentially avoided the IFA realm altogether despite having a robust program in both the DR and Venezuela. His drafts have been busts. He hasn't dealt for any minor league talent.
  19. 6 walks in 22IP is pretty good. We shall see. He is a wish and a prayer guy. He's a modern day Steve Dalkowski.
  20. The thing is, he didn’t. He still had a deadly farm yet it was the attempt to stay on top that got him. Jorge Soler has turned into a monster. He was dealt for Wade Davis. Eloy Jimenez has a full rookie season this year after moving for Quintana. Davis was good in CHC but Quintana has been middling.
  21. Yes you do. You add anyone with a pulse. Your 40 man beyond the starting lineup and a few pitchers is devoid of talent.
  22. That is the thing. Interestingly, Henry has gone from the lovable owner who broke the curse, to the guy laughing at the Yankees for spending money while winning a title in 2013, to the highest payroll team to ever win a WS. He changes his spots as his teams change. No surprise that he changes his GM's too. Time to bring in a builder. I am thinking he likes the look of Neander from TB
  23. Add in Luis Medina. This kid was an enigma. 100mph fastball topping out at 103. Slider that slid across the zone into the other batters box, change that would drop into the dirt. Problem was, he couldn't command it at all. He was getting hit hard trying to locate and walking a batter an inning, until an adjustment in early June. He started commanding better, had a few dominant starts then got shelled a bit then dominated down the stretch earning a late season promotion. It was the tale of two seasons for Medina, who turned 20 in May Prior to June 31IP 36BB June 1 on 73IP 34BB Much improved. But his performance took off as well. And from August 1 on, he was downright dominant. 22.2IP 11H 1ER 6BB 29K. If this kid can find the zone yet keep his velocity and wicked movement, he will be a force to be reckoned with. He is young, he has a huge arm and now is entering the offseason with confidence. If he can locate through an entire season, he will join the top 3 in this farm
  24. Yeah, but Epstein hit a dry spell in Chicago. They just promoted their only big prospect in Hoerner with not much behind him.
  25. The cliff was never a drop into the basement. It was a drop into irrelevance. The more shallow the fall the longer the recovery
