  1. Chargers NE is gonna be a fun fight to watch.
  2. http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/sports/columnists/charley_walters/16414292.htm this could really hinder things if they decide to deal him. If Santana is comfortable in Minny and then wants to test the waters in 09, then the twins may not be able to reap anything for Santana.
  3. example. It is not like they fell apart early and made a mad rush that wasnt enough. They were beaten in the first half and beaten worse in the second. That Gators team just outmanned the OSU team. That offense had no chance. Ginn Jr., Rice in his prime, and Andre Reed wouldnt have helped that offense. Smith was getting hit out of his 7 step drop. He got about a second out of the 3 and 5 step. The blocking should be ashamed.
  4. Cmon now. Ginn makes a difference, but not a 27 point difference.
  5. Lator Gator
  6. Troy Smith has no time to get a pass off. Pittman cannot run. The defense cannot stop leak. Ginn would not have made this game fun to watch. This is dominance, LSU/ND type dominance without the close 1st half.
  7. no it wouldnt. The Gators are the far better team.
  8. wasnt he the FLA HS football player of the yr?
  9. but by the end of camp, you need to trim the roster to 25, and if nobody is injured leaving ST, then someone gets cut.
  10. problem is, there arent any awesome relievers left.
  11. Rodriguez is not in the top 50 yet. A good GCL yr and this kid jumps into the top 50.
  12. VERY interested on my end.
  13. the major league contracts make it easier. 1. Schilling 2. Matsuzaka 3. Papelbon 4. Beckett 5. Wakefield 6. Okajima 7. Romero 8. Donnelly 9. Timlin 10. Pineiro 11. Tavares if the sox go with 11 pitchers, those will be them breaking camp as all have MLB contract. Unless the sox feel like releasing one of the above, this will be how it is.
  14. cmon now guys. Its the offseason and it is good natured nonetheless. Plus, its not like I'm the aggressor here. But I dont mind it.
  15. He isnt the guy he used to be, that is for sure. But he can give you 6 innings of dominance on a nightly basis. That is good enough for me, especially if our 5 spot / audition blows up in our faces.
  16. you are right TGov, we are getting rid of the asswipes on our team. you are right again, the sox dont need him at all. Youk is better than Raffy as it is. To deny his playing time further would be criminal.
  17. Here is the current Yankee 40 man rotation 1. T.J. Beam 2. Chris Britton 3. Brian Bruney 4. Matt DeSalvo 5. Kyle Farnsworth 6. Sean Henn 7. Colter Bean 8. Kei Igawa 9. Luis Vizcaino 10. Jeff Karstens 11. Jeff Kennard 12. Mike Mussina 13. Mike Myers 14. Carl Pavano 15. Andy Pettitte 16. Scott Proctor 17. Darrell Rasner 18. Mariano Rivera 19. Humberto Sanchez 20. Jose Veras 21. Chien-Ming Wang 22. Chase Wright 23. Wil Nieves 24. Jorge Posada 25. Robinson Cano 26. Jason Giambi 27. Derek Jeter 28. Doug Mientkiewicz 29. Juan Miranda 30. Andy Phillips 31. Alex Rodriguez 32. Bobby Abreu 33. Melky Cabrera 34. Johnny Damon 35. Hideki Matsui 36. Kevin Reese 37. Bronson Sardinha 38. Kevin Thompson 39. Josh Phelps 40. ??? One addition may be made without having to pass players onto waivers. One spot will open up depending on who wins the Phelps/Phillips RH 1B platoon out of ST. So this leaves 2 spots open. By the end of the yr, Steven Jackson, Ohlendorf, White and maybe Clippard would have to be added. Other options for waiving are Reese and DeSalvo. So they have options and should open up enough space to spare themselves the worry of the rule 5. But one thing that is interesting is all the crap being spun about for guys like DeJean, Schoeneweis, and Villone. As it stands, the bullpen seems full. Torre has come out and said that the yankees will have 12 pitchers on the staff. Here are the 12. 1. Wang 2. Mussina 3. Pettitte 4. Igawa 5. Pavano 6. Rasner 7. Britton 8. Bruney 9. Vizcaino 10. Proctor 11. Myers 12. Farnsworth 13. Mariano As one can see, we are already over the limit. As it stands, Britton is likely ticketed to the minors as he still has options left. Rasner has no options left and I am not sure if Bruney has options either. But that will leave a full bullpen and rotation with a swing man in there too. Now add in DeJean or Schoeneweis and you have to waive someone, unless they have something else up their sleeve. Let me go on record in saying that I hope Schoeneweis, Villone and DeJean sign elsewhere. There are too many pegs to fit into a set number of holes.
  18. He'll be this yrs Buddy Groom. Guy who doesnt make the team and just yearns to get his shot. Then makes the team and bitches about playing time. These old guys are nice to have around initially, but once things settle into place, they can be a pain in the ass. Hopefully we build a May 31st opt out so he doesnt bitch all year.
