  1. take a look at who they scored them against.
  2. Bedard vs Igawa. Should be an interesting game. I should be posting for most of it.
  3. AAA see post above for Hughes' dominance Eric Duncan went 1-4 with a 2 run homer Alberto Gonzales went 2-3 with a walk. AA Top 10 prospect Jeff Marquez threw a gem on his way to the win. He threw 5IP of 2H 2ER ball with 5K and 1BB en route to a 4-2 victory. Offensively, Cody Ehlers went 1-2 with 2BB and a double and Brett Gardner went 2-4 with a run scored. A+ Yankees first round draft pick from a yr ago, Ian Kennedy was dominant in his debut. He threw 5IP 2H 1ER 2BB and 8K. Anthony Claggett, acquired in the Sheffield deal, went 2IP of relief allowing 2H and K'ing 3 Jose Tabata went 3 for 4 with a triple and a run scored. He has started the season 4 for 6. A Eric Hacker threw 6 shutout innings for the win. Austin Jackson went 2 for 4 with his first homerun on the campaign as the charleston riverdogs won.
  4. Mussina couldnt throw his knuckle curve for a strike last night. The good thing was he was missing with it out of the zone. The bad thing was he only could locate his 4 seamer in the zone and they knew it. He was lambasted last night. Warm weather please!
  5. that is precisely the kind of outlook that gets you in trouble. You have to tailor your approach to certain hitters. If Pujols is at the plate, its better to see if he chases, but if a guy like Melky is at the plate, chances are he isnt taking you deep. You gotta give in. Beckett gave in in his last start against guys who he knew couldnt take him deep and it worked. Even the best will get out 7 out of 10 times. You take those chances over a 50/50 shot of getting a guy to chase vs walking him.
  6. Boston has some of the best bums. I am serious. I have been to NYC a few times, and a few other cities who have the scariest, whackiest bums. But boston's bums seem to have a sense of humor to them.
  7. I tried and I cannot really think of anything worse. Maybe having lucky Larry wear some Brooklyn duds? Having the jester, the bum that resides in the theater district who is always ready with some sexual innuendo about the woman on your arm, urinate on the number 42? Having bongo boy down near the pru wear it while he plays the buckets until 4am? Coco wearing it is worse than all of them.
  8. Crespo, yankee fans are for the most part very fickle and most of us are stupid when it comes to who we adore and who we hate. For god sakes, Bubba Crosby was an icon in NY. But one thing is prevalent in NY. If you are instrumental in a world series win, you will be honored in the minds of yankee fans. But the worst part is, we never had to deal with a sox series win. ARod was the face of the yankees 2003-2004 transition from a pitching team with timely hitting to a hitting team with sparce pitching. That team was the biggest choking team in MLB history and couldnt be the gatekeepers on something yankee fans always cherished, their dominance over the sox known as the curse. ARod is the face of the curse breaking, not any of the red sox who actually broke the curse. Fair or unfair, we wont warm to ARod until he "sets everything right" and wins a WS. It doesnt help that he makes it easy for us to hate him by choking on everything he gets his hands on and disappearing in the playoffs.
  9. Coach, my um, dick, kinda wont get hard for the old lady anymore. s*** son, this sounds serious, 15 or 60 day DL?
  10. Torre is automatically in the blame chair for most of the season as it is. He wiggled out of it in the first game because he didnt abuse Proctor and I thought he pulled his pitchers and used the pen spectacularly. Last night, he was again pretty good, but the use of Proctor for 2 innings in April when it was below zero is beyond clueless. And that cost us the game.
  11. He isnt being faulted a run. Greinke allowed 1ER in 7IP just like Matsuzaka did against a much better offense.
  12. He was the MVP of the 98 WS if I am not mistaken. He hit 2 homers in game 3, the game we came back to win and sealed the deal. In the 98 world series, he hit .471 with 2HR and 6RBI. That series cemented his legacy.
  13. I'd agree with that. Greinke dominated the sox. To this point, if Odalis Perez doesnt get painted by the rule 5 guy in game 2, the sox really only got 6 runs in 19.1IP against pitchers who actually belong in the major leagues. Texas has the makings of a very good bullpen, the sox will have to work the starting pitcher and have to earn it in the pen in this series.
  14. Figured I'd make a thread on the minor leaguers as the minors kicked off last night. AAA SWB lost to Norfolk 7-5. In the loss, Clippard had a very good line 5IP 2ER 4H 3K 2BB Beam and Bean cost them the game. The only offensive prospects on that team are Gonzalez and Duncan Gonzalez went 1-4 Duncan 1-4 with an RBI double AA Trenton lost to Bowie 1-0 Chase Wright was magnificent. 7IP 0ER 2H 9K 0BB as he is the highest lefty pitcher in the yankee system to this point. Gardner and Piliterre were the only ones who had hits for trenton. Other notes Jose Tabata went 1-2 in a rain shortened loss for Tampa Charleston Yankees of the A ball leage beat the Red Sox affiliate even though Lester was dominant in his 4 IP of work. Tim Norton threw 5 scoreless in that one as he tries to crack into Tampa's rotation by the end of the yr. As for tonight, Phil Hughes throws at 7pm.
  15. is this guy serious?
  16. it happens. Cano was pretty damn good as the leadoff man, aside from the fact that he runs like David Ortiz but has the body type of Carl Crawford. How is this kid not a base stealer? We have Moose going tonight in what is going to be a 30-35 degree night. Should be interesting. What I dont get is, the last week of ST I was walking around in Syracuse in a T shirt and no jacket as it was 60s-70s. Now, first week fo baseball and we have a few inches on the ground. Weather sucks.
  17. I havent avoided you, I just woke up and put on the cpu. I have a newsflash for many of you, Tampa Bay can hit. Gotta give them a little credit here as those young kids hit lasers all over the park. As for the rest, Pettitte actually pitched alright, but 2 infield singles and an error on Monkeybitch (are ya serious?) ended his day early. That and the fact that he had some serious trouble locating in the cold. Joe Torre was up to his typical antics, overusing Proctor. A second inning in the second game on a frigid day for Proctor? Do you want him dead? And chances are, Proctor is back in the game today. The f***ing guy has no idea how to manage a pitching staff. Either way, to this point our #5 looked awful and our #3 looked like he still had a little bit to go on his recovery from his back strain. Our offense looked fantastic until it needed to score (Abreu gets more of the blame cause all he had to f***ing do was hit a goddamn flyball) and our pitching/defense was useless. Good points of the day: Brian Bruney and Kyle Farnsworth were damn near untouchable.
  18. he is so f***ing predictable. All he does is choke in the clutch. As for Torre, dont get me started. He abuses Proctor in the frigid temps and he gives up the ghost in the second inning. Then he pulls Giambi in a tie game for Cairo and now Giambi's spot starts the 9th and f***ing Miguel is in. You have got to be f***ing kidding me.
  19. do I need any other reasons why I hate ARod?
