  1. soccer is a sport, a very very boring one.
  2. right now, he is stalled. And to be honest with you, a kid with his kind of power is rare. But he wont get better in Boston. If he plays, he is playing at a level where his skill set hasnt reached and if he doesnt play, he is getting rusty. He needs to learn a little plate discipline and gather some skills at making solid contact first and going for the homer second. This comes about when he is playing at a level he can dominate, so he can work on one thing at a time. That level is AAA or AA. No the AL East in the thick of a playoff chase every season. The best thing the sox could do for themselves and for WMP is to deal him for some minor league pitching prospects (future relievers preferred) and watch him grow. I have said before that not having Murphy on your team is hurting you because of his perfect fit as a 4th OFer. He has okay contact skills, can hit the homer occasionally, runs like the wind and plays all 3 OF spots very well. WMP is not as good of a 4th OFer and hence it is hurting the sox.
  3. you ran into a team that owns you for the most part. The Orioles are a team that you own. To be honest with you, I have a feeling that the O's take tonight's meeting. Tomorrow, you'll be locked in a tight one, but Papi will hit a late homer and Paps will close it out. I call split.
  4. If someone claims Wily off waivers and manages to sneak him past waivers on an attempt to send him to AAA, then he could rejuvenate his career. I have a proposal for you. What would you say if the Pirates claimed Wily off waivers next week, demoted him to AAA and by the start of next yr he is tearing the cover off the ball. Would you be ripping theo?
  5. ryan, by the time he is ready to pitch again, and the timetable has him returning in August or so, the sox will have Lester as the 5 and Clement will be nothing but depth. I wouldnt pick him up in your fantasy leagues.
  6. And the beauty of CMW isnt that he is a shutdown kind of guy. Beckett is. When Beckett is on, he will give you 8 shutout innings. But he also has his stinkers of days where he laves after 5 with 3 or 4 homers in the seats. Wang is a very consistent pitcher who on his best days shows it by his longevity (8IP or so). But his contact capabilities usually always leave him with a run or two on his record. For the most part, even when he is off, he gives innings and keeps the runs low. 6.1IP 4ER is still an average line.
  7. and he is a year older. This is the Schilling you will see this yr. One where he will be very good in stretches and then get hit in stretches. Think about it. In 04 when he came over, he would sit 92 and reach back for a 95-96 when he needed it. Now he is sitting 90-91 and reaching back to get 93 when he needs it. The difference isnt all that much numerically, but it is the difference between getting by with a popup and giving up a homerun. He is adapting and he should have a good line by the end of the yr. But like I said, he starts the yr as your ace, but he wont end it that way. DiceK will be the starting pitcher for your first playoff game (if you make it of course) this yr unless the battle for the playoffs comes down to the last weekend.
  8. It is similar, but not the same. Beckett was reached early then righted himself and feasted on the garbage lineup we threw at you. Wang was damn good early and tired out in the 7th. Either way, if our rotation gave 6IP and 4ER every single game this yr, we are in 1st. I'll take it every time out until the dog days come around when the bats slow a little and the arms start to take over.
  9. f*** it, I'll take that from a yankee starter any day. If we got that from our last 2 starters, we take the series.
  10. BTW, Cabrera dictates this game. If he is on, he is as good as any pitcher in the league and nobody hits him. When he is off (which is about 70% of the time) he is out in the 5th having walked 9 and K'd 9 and you have a field day. Chances are, he is off.
  11. Beowulf, WOW, that is some serious literature search eh? I remember Beowulf from Freshman English class in HS some 12-13 yrs ago.
  12. hence why I am not boiling over after losing 5 in a row. Watched some of the replay and his sinker was going very nicely. That Torre allowed him to go into the 7th right off the DL speaks volumes about how much he is needed on this team. And, BTW, watchout for this Tampa team. They are a minefield. Their offense is tough. Every one of them can hit the homer and steal bases. Nothing easy out of them.
  13. 200IP and a mid 4's ERA? Where do I sign?
  14. I believe you are talking about a freudian slip.
  15. like I said, I have not been here, so I am not sure.
  16. no kidding. Joe blows.
  17. well, Wang gave em innings, but it certainly sounds like CMW was fading. I just got back so I dont know. But why the hell did he bring in Vizcaino?
  18. well, enjoy the game all. I'll miss most of it.
  19. and the sarcasm train has left the building.
  20. penicillin wipes that out. I wont wish illness on someone, only misfortune. How about, FIRING!!!
