this is a very deep draft. I was looking at Keith Law's draft and a potential immediate impact relief arm (a la Craig Hansen, lets hope they dont bring him up immediately this time) was slotted to the yankees. That is absurd to have 29 guys ahead of a potential immediate impact arm. And from what I have read, the first 3 rounds of this draft contain first round talent in most other yrs. Having 2 supps will be a huge boon for you guys.

you play with fire if you try to get past the yankees with a s***** pitcher for the third time. Wake has had stretches of utter dominance against the yankees and he is just as likely to dominate again as he was to bomb out. And with Tavarez, if you looked closer, you'd have seen that his starts in NY had more than met the eye. The last start he made, the outs were hit VERY hard. He wasnt fooling anyone. Timely DPs and at-em balls made his line look better than he actually pitched. His first start against us, he really had us by the balls. So we showed improvements our second time through. Would you really want to see what we could have done a third time around against a second tier pitcher in Fenway? Wake's line would have been a blessing. You can only parade him out there so many times before teams catch on. He's a serviceable 5, but you dont want to throw him out there when you dont have to.

Ian Kennedy, 22, was drafted out of USC in last yrs MLB draft with the 21st overall pick by the New York Yankees. Going into his junior season, he was considered a top 10 pick, but showed a lack of velocity and command en route to dropping in projection to a late 1st to early second round selection. At the time, the yankees were said to have selected him too soon on what most experts called a "reach". Well Kennedy has shown his detractors to be wrong. Last season, he signed rather late and only appeared in one game for the SI Yankees. This off-season, he pitched in the Hawaiian winter league where his K rate was very impressive, but his other numbers were lackluster. There were rumors that he might start at Charleston (A ball) but eventually started the yr in Tampa (A+ ball). And boy did he take off there. But still can be hit by the sox. If we are going to have any prayer of catching you guys, we need a pitcher who could potentially beat you guys without our offense throwing up 9 runs. Clemens may offer that, who knows. But he will also be able to beat the lesser teams (ie EVERYONE ELSE IN THE BIGS), that I am pretty certain of. He'll win his share and help us in his rotation slot. Last night was a good game in the end, but the sox really only needed to take one game and they got that on Saturday. And as far as Papelbon and the like played, the rain certainly played a factor. Paps was topping out at 93 on his heater and that is much more hittable than the 97mph smoke he usually has, as well as Mo topping out at 91. The rain hampered both, but Mo was able to locate all of his pitches while Paps missed with one. I am happy we won, but at the same time, Pettitte's girly shriek in the 5th really made me think elbow. I know he has some elbow issues, so if we lose him, we dont even have the slimmest of shots that we have with him. The offense finally came out, and if Abreu and Cano continue to hit, this team becomes dangerous again. I hope we can make this a race again, but that is more me being excited over the win than anything. Most likely we'll be talking wild card if anything at all. Even in defeat, your offense battled hard, so I'd expect you guys to continue winning.

not really. The achilles tendon is much more resilient than the ankle ligaments. And there are many ankle ligaments that stabilize the ankle. Most ankle sprains still allow enough stability afterwards to not need surgery to repair the ligamentous injury. In terms of Hughes, his injury and timetable has more to do with his age and status with the organization than with how injured he actually is. If this was an older player, they'd be rehabbing right now and likely would see action in a couple weeks. Hughes, OTOH, is being held up because of his status as the future of the yankees staff and will likely be held back until he is 100%.
