    I dont care how the umpire may have gotten it wrong. It wasnt terribly close IMO and the umpires have screwed up a bunch of relatively easy calls by being out of position.

    just as an aside, a third player in the Beckett deal has made the majors. Harvey Garcia hasnt had a lot of success in FLA yet, but he is 23, is in the majors, and throws 97mph. He might be a darkhorse in that deal if he can progress from here.

    One other site actually said that a guy like Porcello could fall a long way in this draft. Porcello is likely the best HS pitcher, but he is represented by Boras and is asking for 10 mil to sign. Now, your info is partially right philly. I dont think the yankees will offer a MLB contract to a kid, that would be stupid. But they certainly could offer a huge signing bonus. And if a guy of Porcello's or Harvey's caliber slipped to them at #30, they'd be stupid to pass. I have a feeling you wont get a shot at either of them from where you are standing.

The easy answer is Pineiro, but with the 4 mil he is being paid and the fact that he only recently started relieving, he may be kepts. The one that makes sense personell wise is to option Lopez down because he has options left, but he has dominated lefties this yr. Snyder, Paps, Okajima, and Donnelly all have cemented their places and from the sounds of it, Romero is safe too.

    where did I ever say you had a bottom league offense. Dont put words in my mouth. I said that if you created this lead solely on O, ie you had no pitching, then I'd say you could be beaten. But because you have done this on offense AND pitching, I dont think you can be caught.

    Dice has been an innings eater so far, but his ERA hasnt been all that wonderful. Wang has proven to this point that 2 yrs deep into his career, he can give 6-8 innings per start and have an ERA at or below 4. Dice hasnt proven that yet. In 2 yrs, I'l likely be singing a different tune.

    in all honesty Gom, we arent back yet. I wont consider us back until we are within 5 or 6 games and Roger is actually pitching. Right now having DeSalvo or Igawa in our 5 spot and that is an automatic loss. And you cannot go on long stretches of consistency or even a big winning streak if 1 out of every 5 games is automatically a loss before you even play them. That puts a ton of pressure on the rest of the staff.

    you guys do have some interesting matchups coming. 2 of your next 3 games are against soft tossing lefties. (Kennedy and Davis). The game inbetween is Schilling against he red hot Blanton. You have Beckett vs Owings which is severely in your favor, but DMats vs RJ next week is gonna be tough if RJ is slinging it well. A tough stretch against mediocre teams who are throwing right into your weaknesses.
