  1. well, the writer at PP was wrong. But Porcello is falling and would be an absolute STEAL if he falls to NY.
  2. you can always go well over slot like the yankees did with Betances.
  3. Drew is not at the bottom of the first tier. Sorry. He's a second tier guy all the way
  4. Ah, now I see. Still, you get a top level talent like that, he could be better than those 2. And if he isnt, he has a dealable value.
  5. I think you, crunch and a few on the other side were VERY critical of this deal from the getgo. And why not. You pay 70 mil, you shouldnt have a ton of baggage. And even at his best, Drew isnt worth that kind of coin. And his best is very few and so far between because of his DL stints / gyno procedures.
  6. I thought I had heard the name before. Matt LaPorta, one of the top prospects in this draft, was drafted last season by the sox with pick #433. Granted, financially, he is making out on this deal, but they had to know what kind of talent they had there. Hell, he had a better yr last season than he did this and he is considered by many to be a top 10 pick. Why did they let him slip out of their hands? There has to be an amount of money that he would have accepted to get into the system. I know he is a Boras client, and I know that he wants a MLB contract, but the irony of it is, this guy is a potential yankee pick if his demands scare enough teams off. Imagine that. You guys draft a kid, cant sign him, we take him the next yr, sign him and he comes back to bite you. I like that idea.
  7. The Wang haters dont really know what they are talking about. People like to try and make comparisons, but there arent any to make. Last night was a clear example of why Wang is extremely unique. He certainly has the stuff to strike people out. He seems to get his K's when he needs them. But why go for the K with nobody on base? 104 pitches for 9 innings. I'll take that over the 7 innings most power pitchers get through at the same pitch count.
  8. everybody knew it. This is JD Drew. Just in previous yrs he was able to make enough contact and hit enough to make the naysayers few and far between. But I think that shouder injury that they found on the MRI is lurking. If you have a degerated right shoulder, as a lefty, that is your lift hand. If you dont have the right shoulder, you will have trouble with lifting the ball. The back hand supplies the power, the front hand supplies the lift. So instead of him hitting balls with loft or screaming liners, his injury may be ever so slightly causing him to miss the ball just a bit and he's now rolling on everything. This could be temporary because his shoulder was operated on less than 2 yrs ago. But there could be permanent repercussions.
  9. Lugo is slugging better than Drew. WOW. Thats a shocker.
  10. well, you saw what happened the last time they did it. You are still rueing the day.
  11. he doesnt have "feet problems". He sprained his ankle doing running drills trying to recover from the hamstring pull. He'll be fine.
  12. A big surprise is brewing in the draft. It appears the DRays are going to take Catcher Matt Wieters with the 1st overall pick tomorrow. This is from one of the writers at pinstripesplus.com. He says he has 2 extremely reliable sources.
  13. Wang is really good right now. A 2 hour 39 minute complete game (assuming he gets the last out). Wow.
  14. I think the point of the matter is, Hughes will essentially get 120 innings out of the season between rehab and a return to NY while throwing a bit more in September with us, a month that he didnt get to throw in in the minors. Either way, he's throwing now, and he will be ready for 200 next yr.
  15. Abreu is heating up. Nice. 5-1
  16. Wang is rollin.
  17. Melky has really become a solid CFer. Thanks for being a bit banged up Damon. Cause Melky is worlds better as a CFer.
  18. so we run ourselves out of another inning. Crapper Hey Wang, hold em down kid. Looks like the O is asleep again
  19. Wang en fuego yet again.
  20. bring him on. I BET WE CAN HOLD HIM TO ONE HOMER PER GAME!!!
