  1. boy he hung that one. He isnt as sharp in the 6th as he had been. This should be it for him. ONE MORE OUT PHIL!
  2. GET SOMEONE WARMING!!!! REMEMBER, THIS KID IS JUST COMING OFF AN INJURY, HIS ENDURANCE IS s*** RIGHT NOW!!!
  3. he rebounded nicely. One more inning I would expect.
  4. Hughes looks gooooood.
  5. I agree with you. I said so much a few weeks back when he was rumored to be dealt to Seattle. I think he will put it together eventually, I am just not sure he will ever do it in NY.
  6. A QS in and of itself is not meaningful. Many quality starts over the course of the season is meaningful. It means that.. A. You are consistent B. You can get out of jams or rarely C. You are ridiculously dominant. For every s***** QS there are a few games where they dont meet the criteria but they deserved better. I find QS% to be a pretty accurate measure of consistency.
  7. Cano is at .308 in August. Close enough.
  8. Did you catch the quote from Torre when he was called out for leaving Edwar on the bench? He likes relievers with a "belly full of guts" and no rookie has that, it takes experience. Hello, um, Mr Torre, you do know that you owe 4 world series titles to a guy who you played as a rookie in the pen. One Mariano Rivera. Joe and Steinny seem to be floating down the same boat to mindlessness.
  9. Are you? I own up when I stick my foot in my mouth. You said that you would be surprised if Cano could hit over .300 again this yr since he has such poor plate discipline. You also said that Wang would likely revert to being a middle of the road pitcher with a mid 4's era because he relies on his fielders too much. I have been wrong a thousand times ORS and I'll own up to them. Your turn.
  10. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/pitching?split=0&league=al&season=2007&seasonType=2&sort=QSPct&type=pitch2&ageMin=17&ageMax=51&state=0&college=0&country=0&hand=a&pos=all here is the link. Beckett is 12th in the AL at 67% Matsuzaka is 14th in the AL at 65% Pettitte is 19th in the AL at 63% Wang is 21st at 62% Clemens is 26th at 58% Mussina is 33rd at 53% Schilling is 37th at 50% Wakefield is 51st at 48%
  11. Their pitching has been respectable, their offense has been unbelievable. When the pitching has been bad, they have been really bad. When they have been good, which is most of the time, they have been pretty good.
  12. check ESPN.com, they have the QS's listed and the QS%. Your %ages are way off.
  13. Rumor has it that it was Karstens who will be optioned. Interesting note to be made. With Myers, Proctor and Bruney out of the immediate picture, the pen is starting to look a bit different. There is a real chance that going into the postseason, Joba, Edwar and either Bruney or Britton will be manning the middle innings while Vizcaino gets shifted to setup man. This is assuming Farnsworth is moved or waived or whathaveyou. That is quite a youth injection and really could backfire on us in the coming months. But it cannot be worse that what we already had....right?
  14. And considering the top 4 in each rotation right now (As Hughes and Lester have only made 3 starts apiece) BOS 48 for 83 57.8% NYY 45 for 76 59.2% Pretty damn similar if you ask me.
  15. Who cares how many they have had, the big deal is the QS percentage since most of the yankee pitchers have missed some time. Here it is.. Beckett 67% Matsuzaka 65% Pettitte 63% Wang 62% Clemens 58% Mussina 53% Schilling 50% Wakefield 48%
  16. actually, of the last 10 games, our starters have put up 6 QS's. 60% is not too bad from an entire staff. It is just that the other 4 games were assisted with massive offense as well. You put up a QS when your team is scoring 6,7,8 runs a game in stretches, then those are victories.
  17. Tyler Kepner is reporting that Edwar Ramirez will be returning to the majors following another impressive stint in AAA. After being ruined by Joe Torre who kept him on the bench for 2 weeks then watched him implode vs TB, Edwar has done nothing but shine. In his 10 innings since his demotion, he has allowed 1 run while striking out 17. If he gets regular time, there is a good chance that he could be a key member of the yankee pen going forward. In terms of who is going down, there is speculation that Jim Brower could be DFA'd or Jeff Karstens could be sent to Scranton.
  18. you are lucky that the post recall is only 500 and I cannot get back to your posts in March and April.
  19. I eat crow with the best of them, lol.
  20. aside from one start, clemens has been dynamite. (I think I put this quote in another thread, let me find it.)
  21. time for a promotion
