  1. He isnt a 1. He is a 2. He's won more games than anyone over the past 2 yrs and has been very consistent. He just isnt the lights out ace that a team with our payroll should have. He'll still be the 15-20 game winner with a sub 4 era that he's been for 2 yrs now. He just isnt a guy who you could toss in front of a playoff rotation that has him as their best pitcher. If he headed a deep rotation, then he'd be fine. The past couple yrs, the rotation has been top heavy. If Hughes and Kennedy pitch well behind Pettitte and Wang, we'll have a good rotation.
  2. not off to a bad start though, 7 homers in his first 70 ABs isnt too bad.
  3. It isnt an issue right now. He isnt expected to miss any time.
  4. Phillips didnt even hit Longoria, he hit his jersey.
  5. Heath Phillips was tossed for hitting Longoria. Duncan then slid into second spikes high and drilled Iwamura. Gomes sprinted in from RF and tackled Duncan. Then a brawl broke out.
  6. On M&MD, the Twins wanted 1 of two packages... Hughes, Melky, and 2 MiLB players or Wang, Melky, and 1 MiLB player. I'd say no to both as well. Hughes has been dynamite this ST too. Good work Cash.
  7. [crosses fingers that this is a chronic problem this yr]
  8. Coco has no market right now. Once he gets healthy, he might be able to play his way onto another team via trade. But the sox wont deal him unless the right deal comes along, and while he's hurt or ineffective, the right deal wont come along.
  9. Lowrie does not have the range to be a starting shortstop. And before you say it, neither does Jeter, its just that jeter hits the piss out of the ball and makes the routine plays. If Lowrie comes up and doesnt hit the cover off the ball from the getgo, he'll be a detriment.
  10. I hope so. Past a diving Lowrie...
  11. There are plenty of teams that would take a flyer on him. But right now, he's damaged goods. This is exactly why you dont rush a kid to the bigs. He is a mental midget. Some guys can handle it, others you need to slowly bring along. Hansen sounds like the latter.
  12. He needs to be on the 25 man by the beginning of 09 or he passes through waivers.
  13. I would assume every team is. I heard about him 3 or so months ago.
  14. Newsflash: Schilling is out for the majority of the yr. Newsflash#2: Colon will never be the same pitcher he was when he was winning CY
  15. we said the same thing about Youkilis... Regardless, no matter what Duncan does in ST, he'll start the yr as the righty portion of a platoon in either LF or at 1B. Depending on how he does, he could earn more PT. Regardless, he is a big time power, good eye player. He will never hit for average.
  16. Shelley Duncan is on a mission. Cervelli looked good. Cutch threw the ball hard. Melancon looked good too. these kids are solid.
  17. he already took his paycut and just had the best season (arguably) a receiver could have. At some point you have to pay the piper.
  18. Montero, Romine, Nunez and Eric Duncan were re-assigned to MiLB camp.
  19. Buchholz got shitstomped today in his debut.
  20. Pettitte looked same old same old. I didnt even recognize Bruney. Lost 25 pounds and now has long hair. Is throwing cheese, but is still inconsistent. He gets passed IMO. One of the candidates for the pen had an awful day today. Steve White threw cheese but got pounded. Good to see Giambi hitting the ball hard. The offense is certainly on track early.
  21. and in order to be a "Team of a Nation" you need to have a certain reaction amongst americans. The Cowboy's are "America's Team" because those who watch football and dont love the cowboys hate them. There isnt much middle ground. Same with the Yankees. You either love em or hate em. The Sox? Tons of middle ground. That should say all that needs to be said
  22. I think a lot of the older sox fans would agree that the red sox nation crap is stupid. The new ad campaign isnt aimed towards them. Its aimed at the generation of new sox fans. You must admit that it was an absolute joke that a chief justice swore in Jerry Remy as the president of RSN. That was corny and stupid.
  23. and you know this how? Until they blood test, there is no way to know what these players are doing. Maybe they arent doing "steroids". But HGH is rampant. And anywhere there is a test, there is a chemist 3 steps ahead of it.
