  1. I never liked MLB.TV. I like Extra Innings better.
  2. Wait. NESN is carrying the sox, but MLB Extra Innings isnt carrying the yankees. f***!!
  3. I am in Mass and FOX is carrying another game?? I dont get to see the sox or the yanks
  4. Saying that Halladay is worse than Beckett is a joke. Beckett has been in Boston for 2 yrs. These have been the healthiest yrs of his career by a long shot. One yr, he was awful. One yr he was amazing. Halladay, OTOH, has been an ace since 02.
  5. and we are seeing it on both sides now. The fact that our biggest off season signee was Latroy Hawkins is a wonder in and of itself.
  6. Kennedy, Hughes, Wang, Joba, Hawkins, Farnsworth, and Mo. All 7 of them thus far are throwing 3-4 mph slower than where they are known to sit. It might have something to do with the damp, low 40 degree weather after throwing in the hot sun of Tampa. Kennedy's deal wasnt his velocity either. He seemed to start everyone off with offspeed stuff, which isnt like him, and he was missing. Falling behind in the count when you are a finesse, location type of pitcher is a sign of a really bad outing. It forced him to come down the middle with his heat, which is exactly what he shouldnt be doing. When he is on, he is able to locate the heat on the corners early in the count and then drop either the slider, curve or change off the zone and get the K. He didnt jump 5 levels in one yr out of luck, Gom, he actually is good. And we knew he didnt light up the radar gun. This is who he is. If you are going to be a whiny bitch about watching this team this yr, then maybe you should take a yr off. We have 2 rookies in our rotation and depending on what the Moose does, we could have 3 (Horne or Joba depending). At least early on, we are going to need to have patience with them and hope that the best rookie (Hughes) can tandem with our 2 horses and we can get something useful out of Moose. I am intrigued to see how Kennedy bounces back.
  7. There were questions about him too. We kinda had the same deal with Peavey, Holle, Storen and Carpenter. All 4 were top 5 round talents who were drafted in the teens to 20s. But they all had massive questions surrounding them and all wanted 1 mil plus in bonuses. Unfortunately, business takes precedence sometimes. Would I have loved for them to sign them all? Absolutely. But the budgets are what they are.
  8. LETS OVERREACT OVER ONE GAME, YEAH!!!! GREAT IDEA
  9. A terrible move for his career? He has 3 lights out pitches and the frame to handle the workload. You have to see if he fails in the rotation before you mandate him to the pen for his career. Relievers have shorter careers and shorter workloads. I'd much rather have Joba in the rotation long term.
  10. Sunday's game should be classic
  11. No, he did not. He is in the clubhouse.
  12. Well a700, it all depends on the situation. If our rotation comes together well, then moving Joba to the rotation may not be in the best interests of this club. If our pen falls apart, then keeping Joba in the pen may be the best way to go. It also depends on what the kids do. We have a good amount of young pen arms knocking on the door and a few who'll be knocking on the door later in the yr. We also have a couple starting pitchers knocking on the door and we'll see how they do in AAA (Sanchez, Horne, Marquez). There are more options this yr. We'll just have to figure out which options pay off and which ones hit bust.
  13. Hawkins has given up a total of 5ER in his 2 appearances thus far. Those are the only runs allowed by our pen in the 4 games thus far this yr.
  14. Holy s***, this Latroy guy is getting torched
  15. For the first half of the yr, the 8th and 9th are locked down with Joba and Mo. This is what I mean by weaning them in. We arent asking them to be the setup man or the closer. By the time Joba is ready to go to the rotation, one of them may be ready to step up.
  16. Wow, Hawkins sucks. Here is my prediction. We are down 9-4 right now. The Rays will stay away from Reyes in the 8th due to the lead. We'll get 3 in the 8th, then get one off Percival before dying 9-8 in the ninth.
  17. he beat the odds after having his problems fixed. This time, his problems havent been fixed. f***, this game is over.
  18. I agree. I think it all depends how the rest of the pen works out. If Albaladejo or Ohlendorf step up, or Farnsworth becomes reliable (I know, I know) or Hawkins stops getting his tits lit then Joba can be transitioned in a long relief role piggybacked with kennedy or he could be sent down. If the rest of the pen takes a nosedive, then I dont know if they'll do it.
  19. Hawkins looks like the worst of them all.
  20. Rivera, Farns, Hawkins, Traber and even Bruney.
  21. 4 veterans have locked down spots with the setup spot being in the hands of a very capable kid in Joba. The lesser experienced kids like Alby and Ohlie will get weaned in.
