Kennedy, Hughes, Wang, Joba, Hawkins, Farnsworth, and Mo. All 7 of them thus far are throwing 3-4 mph slower than where they are known to sit. It might have something to do with the damp, low 40 degree weather after throwing in the hot sun of Tampa.
Kennedy's deal wasnt his velocity either. He seemed to start everyone off with offspeed stuff, which isnt like him, and he was missing. Falling behind in the count when you are a finesse, location type of pitcher is a sign of a really bad outing. It forced him to come down the middle with his heat, which is exactly what he shouldnt be doing. When he is on, he is able to locate the heat on the corners early in the count and then drop either the slider, curve or change off the zone and get the K. He didnt jump 5 levels in one yr out of luck, Gom, he actually is good. And we knew he didnt light up the radar gun. This is who he is.
If you are going to be a whiny bitch about watching this team this yr, then maybe you should take a yr off. We have 2 rookies in our rotation and depending on what the Moose does, we could have 3 (Horne or Joba depending). At least early on, we are going to need to have patience with them and hope that the best rookie (Hughes) can tandem with our 2 horses and we can get something useful out of Moose. I am intrigued to see how Kennedy bounces back.
