  1. I know this is old news, but anyone find this a bit interesting? With Casey being a solid 3b and youkilis at 1st with Cora backing them all up, it wasnt necessary for the sox to bring him up. They could have kept Corey on when they activated Timlin. But with Lugo playing like s*** last yr and now him starting this yr as a defensive and offensive liability, anyone have a feeling that Lowrie may be getting an "audition" between 3rd and short and then potentially move Lowrie to SS if Lugo continues to be a defensive liability. As I have said before, Lowrie is not considered to be a fantastic defender. Lugo has range on Lowrie, but if Lugo continues to misthrow and drop grounders, then its a moot point. I have a feeling that a s***** Lugo will open the door for Lowrie.
  2. If you want Hagadone and Masterson to be groomed as starters, they will need to take it one step at a time. If you want them in your pen, Masterson might be ready by the end of the yr and Hagadone by midyear next yr.
  3. So pitchers who finally click dont ever lose their mechanics again? So a pitcher isnt allowed to have a career yr and then go back to previous? Again, I am not saying he will be anything but solid this yr, but sitting here and saying he is a lock to be a top 3 CY candidate again is far from assured. Manny's swing always looks good. It is hardly ever his mechanics that is his problem. As always, his problems have been health (more recently anyway) and his mentality. Throw in advanced age and he is far from a sure thing. MHOF, you are trying to push some things onto the yankees to make yourself feel better when this really is a universal issue. Both teams have the potential for big time offenses. Both teams rely on older players as their core offense and the possibility of injury or decline is real. Both teams have a top heavy pitching staff with a back end filled with uncertainty and promise. With Joba in our pen, both teams have a solid 8-9, but the questions seep in about the bridge before then. Right now, our teams are very similar. Hence, injury, ineffectiveness and fulfilment of promise will decide who takes the east.
  4. Wang was dominant. He very well could have thrown a no-no last night. I am glad I could see most of the game during my shift. Heavy hard bowling balls, and for some reason, he got a lot of flyouts. A few balls were hit well, but that is the case in any game. He kept the pitch count down, mixed in the slider and change well and dominated the sox in Fenway. Great game BTW, nice to see Molina stepping it up.
  5. Schilling is done my friend. If the injury is as described, there isnt a possible way for him to rehab it.
  6. Runs scored the past 10 yrs 2007: 56 2006: 65 2005: 42 2004: 41 2003: 65 2002: 50 2001: 68 2000: 45 1999: 69 1998: 52 2008? 25 The only reason we won 4 games is the pitching. Our offense is awful right now. When did anyone ever think that after 9 games (where 6 included the royals and rays) that we'd be averaging 2.7 runs a game. Thats embarassing.
  7. Bonderman was bad today but the sox didnt take advantage.
  8. http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/yankees/2008/04/kennedy-scratched-kind-of.html Healthy scratch and they plan on bringing him into the game as a reliever after the likely rain delay.
  9. Holy s*** Bruney looked good. The skinny, long locked Bruney is frickin good.
  10. it wont be an NG tube if it is up your ass. Thats called a rectal tube
  11. He looked good early, but now he is unravelling.
  12. very secretive today. They are saying "shoulder stiffness". But the fact that it is pouring in KC and was supposed to rain anyway, I wouldnt be surprised. Girardi seems to like keeping the media in the dark. So long as Kennedy isnt hurt, I am game. If he is hurt, then this is bad news.
  13. Bruney starting, IPK was scratched
  14. Molina has been very good at C thus far and is holding his own at the plate.
  15. he also pulled an oblique and will miss at least one start. Colon will be inconsistent, that is the nature of the injury. His FB was always straight as an arrow and we lit him up like a Christmas tree. His biggest calling card was how well he threw his curveball off of his FB. If he truly is throwing mid to high 90s again, then the questions that you need to know are.. A. Is he locating well enough to be effective B. Is he locating his curve If both A and B are yes, then he is a steal. If not, he might have the velocity, but he wont be very useful.
  16. He's a control, finesse kind of reliever.
  17. Hughes had a bad game, understatement of the day. Yankee bats couldnt heat up when they had Bannister on the ropes.
