  1. One thing that confounds your theory, ORS, is the fact that the yankees have been in it for the past 13 yrs. If the yankees were out of it come July 30th, then someone else might benefit from the salary dumps or prospect packages that come our way when we bail.
  2. Meh. His changeup is solid when he uses it. Remember the 6.2IP of no hit ball? Remember the AB vs Teixeira? 3 straight changeups and they were all nasty. He also used his change in his first start of the yr. I dont know if he just doesnt like the feel of it or isnt comfortable with it. But when he throws it, it moves a ton.
  3. You are right when you dont take into account the fact that we are playing much better baseball now. We would have said the same thing the past 2 yrs excepting the fact that the yankees were hot in the second half
  4. must be a conspiracy. /sarcasm
  5. the fact that Nady is now hitting .385 with 3HR and 10RBI in 8 games must also be another Cashman coup. How would he know Nady would get better? I smell a conspiracy
  6. Was Big Stein the mystery shooter on the Grassy Knoll too?
  7. Kyle Higashioka, the prep catcher who was commited to Cal has signed with the yankees. Lefty catcher with an advanced power stroke, rumored to have signed for 600-750K Also signing was the yankees 50th round draft pick Nick Turley. Not your typical 50th round pick. He is a HS lefty who sits 88-91 mph. he was commited to UW and was a big bonus signee. Of note, the yankees likely will not be signing Blake Monar, the big bonus requesting prep lefty. In his summer league, he is topping out at 84mph.
  8. I have no idea how it turns out. Funny thing is, our season will not depend on the Mussina's Pettitte's and Joba's. It will depend on whomever throws the other 2 turns in the rotation. If we get 50% good starts (like this past week with Ponson pitching great and Rasner sucking) then we'll be good. For you guys, the road hurts. If you guys continue your roll at home and even play .450 ball outside of the Fens, then you're in. I just think the sox cannot keep up their pace at home and are gonna need to win this division with their road play. Can they do it? We'll see. The pen has been much better of late. If that keeps up, then they're in the drivers seat
  9. I am not requesting anything. I am saying that the idea of other teams trading players to the yankees intentionally for poor return is preposterous. If that were the case, wouldnt those teams then be pissed at the yankees since their new stadium will kill a lot of revenue sharing?
  10. loss column is all that matters. 2 out. Hell, we took 2/4 vs the Halos after you guys got swept by them, then we took 2 of three in your house. 2 games out isnt too bad considering.
  11. I am not trolling. I am pointing out a truth. The sox are untouchable at home, they are bad on the road. The yankees are good at home and good on the road.
  12. Not in their effectiveness, but in his lack of usage.
  13. If the kilometric's history holds, the yankees will be playing in the post season and the sox will be on the outside looking in.
  14. Hughes issue wasnt his secondary pitches per se. It was his lack of usage of them. He was a 2 pitch pitcher early in the yr. If he doesnt mix the change and slider in, he will suck
  15. Second best record in the AL on the road. So not mediocre. 10 games over at home, good for 5th in the AL. Again, not mediocre. The Sox? 2nd best record at home, excellent. 10th best record in the AL at home (worst in the ALE). Putrid. Saying the sox have "struggles" on the road is like saying the red sox had some mild struggles from 1918-2003
  16. I argue with Gom all the time. But I agree with him here. Sample sizes are small. The bias is swaying JHB's judgement. And the idea of a conspiracy to make the yankees better is just hilarious. Just drop it JHB. You keep backpedaling when you want to make progress. This one is a lost cause.
  17. Plus, I dont think Rasner makes another start. Either Geise will move to the rotation or IPK will be back. The bloom is off the rose for Rasner. Rasner got by with great location in his first 4 starts. Ever since, he is leaving his pitches up and getting behind in counts. Bad news for a guy with fringe stuff.
  18. we arent the red sox. We actually dont suck every time we play outside of home. 4 in Texas with Joba, Pettitte, Ponson and Mussina going. I like our chances of taking 3 of 4 In Anaheim, we have Rasner, Joba and Pettitte, likely take 1 of 3. Then a 3 gamer in Minny, a team we seem to own every yr. We should come out with at least a .500 roadie.
  19. This was already known. The last doctor visit was encouraging, but he wont be cleared to throw full bore until mid-august. If all things go well, he could be back for the last 2 turns of the rotation. That is without one setback. I have a feeling he'll have one, typically dead arm as he returns to his spring training form.
  20. WHAT A DEADLINE MOVE BY THEO, HUGE WIN LOLZ!!1!!!21!1
  21. split vs the angels with their best pitcher throwing and our best starters either out (Wang) or scheduled to pitch after the series (Joba). I'll take a split vs the best team in baseball when both Rasner and Ponson throw in the series. Damn, that is awesome. Now for the momentum on the road. Go to Texas, Joba, Pettitte, and Ponson.
