  1. It’d be an insult to the posting team to accept less money, so I’d be shocked if he signed with a lower bidder. I’m just wondering if Bloom wanted him at all. If he ends up a reliable back end starter, then he’s worth far more than $3.6 mil per year
  2. If the final deal was worth $7 mil over 2 years then the Sox didn’t really want him
  3. I just reported what I saw on rotoworld. Nothing else
  4. https://www.rotoworld.com/baseball/mlb/player/62523/kohei-arihara
  5. Kohei arihara is being posted and the Sox are a finalist. He’s a command, control guy who protects as a back end starter
  6. Bloom is actually rebuilding your team, not injecting cash for the sake of it. Trust the process. If you get impatient, errors get made
  7. Andriese is a real big leaguer. The s*** he did last year was grab minor leaguers and see if they could be big leaguers. You know how that turned out
  8. There’s your swing guy. Used to be a starter, now a multi inning reliever. Perfect for the way Bloom roster builds.
  9. Kiermaier is making $11 mil for 2 more years. Stanton had 10 years and $270 mil left on his deal and a full no trade
  10. I didnt say he was just a HR hitter. He had an .890OPS in 2019 with 38HR as a 22 yr old. He is coming into his prime and can capably play 2b and fill in as a SS if needed. I do not think he is a long term SS. That being said, he is a great player to build around and has far more ceiling than most other players in the game
  11. Baseball is the only sport where you can truly win without any superstars, just a collection of above average to good players at every position
  12. This is why we can't have nice things. This value site is horrible at best. So you are going to get an elite closer in pre-arb status, a front of the rotation type starter with injury concerns, a solid backup catcher, and two salary dumps that aren't terribly overpaid (one of which with a higher likelihood of recovery to his norm in Bell) for Vazquez, Duran, Chavis and Chatham? This is lunacy. Chatham and Durran have limited value as limited power and bat players. Chavis is a change of scenery guy. Vaz is the only one with true value.
  13. Disagree ENTIRELY on Espinal. He is a power, power arm, capable of hitting 100mph with regularity. He isnt a swing guy. He will end up as a single inning reliever at best, with a high likelihood of flameout due to lack of command and health. Also, for a guy with his arsenal, he got taken deep far too often. If the sox can keep him healthy, he is more of a setup guy long term, but he is also 29 and not a kid anymore
  14. So when the argument supports me, throw the data out, when it support you, keep it? How "big brained" is that?
  15. He is out of position as a SS. He is more of a 2b, IMO.
  16. I believe that a 24 yr old pre-prime middle infielder capable of OPSing near .900 and hitting 40 bombs is worth more than a 28 yr old prime NL pitcher who’s best season was a pandemic shortened one, especially when the MIF has an extra year of arb control
  17. You don't honestly believe that.
  18. If so, then the site is rubbish. Torres is 24 vs Castillo’s 28. Torres is a middle infielder vs Castillo being a pitcher. Torres is coming off a down shortened season, but his last full season saw him slugging 38 HR with a near .900 OPS as a middle infielder. Torres also carries an extra year of control. It’s literally mind boggling to consider Castillo as having more value
  19. That’s insane.
  20. Torres is worth more than Castillo. It’s cost us Garcia, Schmidt and more, but we could get it done. I just don’t know if it’s worth it
  21. It makes little sense for the sox to deal for a front line pitcher when their cupboard is pretty bare and the team in dire need of a rebuild. The sox are a year or two away from making a move like Castillo
  22. Castillo is different from Sale, for sure. But he is also coming into his own. 4.1WAR in 2019 hid a walk spike and a bit of a lucky BABIP. His 2020, abbreviated as it might have been, really locked in on a drop in walks, homers, rise in K's and even showed an unlucky .329BABIP. The Reds would be better off dealing him now. If he reverts to his very productive but not ace-like 2019, then his value drops. Teams are going to be willing to pay a premium for the hope that 2020 is a predictor of things to come
  23. Luis Castillo is on the market. High price, but that’s an arm I’d want
  24. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oZzgAjjuqZM This is the right one
  25. If the Sox are planning to contend in 21, then a fall back for Dalbec is a requirement. If the Sox are planning to build and develop in 21, then there’s zero reason to steal PT from Dalbec.
