  1. 3-0. Beckett is losing it
  2. your life sucks apparently
  3. You are delusional
  4. It will be interesting to see how this kid does. Will he tense up and be wild? Will he be dominant? Will he be something inbetween? I think the sox can learn from the yankees and see what they did with both Robertson and Melancon. Putting them right into the heart of a yankees sox series in critical moments is not a good way to break a kid in. If they are smart, he only sniffs the mound if the sox are getting pummelled or the sox are pummelling TB.
  5. Well, you gotta live with the inconsistencies of youth. I think the problem we have is that we have had to dip into the minors all too often and way too early. If the yankees used the path set by the upper managers, Hughes wouldnt have seen NY until this yr. He would not have debuted in 2007. They've tinkered with his windup and with his stuff. We saw what his new windup and stuff can do in the game he threw vs Detroit. But he obviously needs more work as evidenced by the last 2 games. He has inconsistent command of his curveball, and he inconsistently uses the changeup. I am more impressed by the fastball and cutter, but if the hitter knows the curve isnt coming over the plate and the change isnt coming, it is just too easy. Hughes needs a full yr in the minors. The yankees need to demote him once Wang comes back, and from the sounds of it, Wang might make his last rehab appearance tomorrow I think in SWB. From the sounds of it, he's been really, really solid.
  6. Molina might find himself out of a job to be honest with you. Cervelli is known in the prospect circles for his defense, and if he shows to be capable with the veteran and rookie hurlers while putting up more or the same on the offensive end, Molina might be sent packing after a lengthy rehab. I have always thought that the yankees had their backup/defensive catcher in the system in Cervelli and now I am glad to see him in the bigs. Granted, I'd much rather have Posada, but Cervelli is taking the task well. And another thing that we should see over time out of Cervelli is solid patience. This is why I pegged him as being our eventual backup. His OBPs in the minors have been great. In 2006, it was .385. In 2007, it was .387. Last yr, he missed a lot of time due to the injury from ST, but he reached at a .432 clip in 21 games for Trenton at the end of the yr. He has a career IsoPatience of .100 in the minors. If he starts walking as well, Molina would have no use. So, that catcher who makes our team SOOOO much better would be looking for a job.
  7. Johnny Damon has been absolutely clutch for us this yr. The offense once again had a tough time with Uehara. Seems like we are susceptible to junkballing strike throwers. Joba tapdanced through machine gun fire once again yet was pretty solid after inning #1. Eiland needs to figure that s*** out quick. Joba throwing 87mph in the first inning is inexcuseable. Then he's throwing 96 from the second inning on. But, after all, he really is a rookie starting pitcher and there will be growing pains no matter how dominant his stuff is. Coke was the MVP of tonight's game, IMO. He inherits a lead and just rifles through the heart of the Oriole order like they werent even there. He's sliding into that setup position nicely. Now if only someone could join him in being useful out of the pen, we might actually be able to hold more leads. Mariano was Mariano. And there we had it. I like what I am seeing out of Cervelli. He doesnt have much power, but he hustles, he plays good D and he has his head in the game. Seems like Molina is gonna be out longer than Posada, so this kid is gonna need to grow up quickly. Overall, good win. 2 of 3 from the O's and now we go to Toronto with our 3 vets throwing. Not a bad way to get back up off the deck after getting our asses kicked.
  8. I would be surprised if Rivera and Bernie ever juiced. Rivera, mostly because he works short innings, has pristine mechanices, has a big frame and works off one pitch. I think that helped his longevity more than anything. Bernie mostly because he got fatter and started to suck at around 32, 33.
  9. Stop being delusional. The strikezone was fine. CC was locating the heat in, was throwing the change for strikes and had the back foot slider working on righties tonight. Nobody was hitting him.
  10. Everyone keeps talking about shoulder like we are concerned for a rotator cuff injury. He had his AC joint operated on. He proved last yr that he can pitch with it. It isnt something that will cause him significant harm, it is just gonna be uncomfortable until it fully heals.
  11. Exactly what we needed. ARod gets one big hit. CC was unhittable tonight. Still had some boneheaded plays that we need to improve on, but overall, a pretty good night to be a yankee. Need more of these games.
  12. But ARod has been JUICING IN NY!!! Kinda funny. Here's a shocking revelation. ARod juiced in NY. Manny juiced in Boston.
  13. we havent had a lead since the angels loss
  14. We hired him for 2008 because of the influx of kids. Well, Hughes and Kennedy sucked last yr. Chamberlain got hurt before he came back this yr decent. Melancon comes up and all of a sudden loses all control. Robertson comes up and sucks. Veras and Ramirez do well last yr then suck this yr. Albaladejo the same. Coke is the only guy he can pin his cap to and he hasnt been the best. It is time to fire him. It may not be his fault, but this is the worst staff in baseball right now.
  15. Nothing would surprise me. But if there is anything for his case is that he did all his damage in his prime and absolutely collapsed once he turned 30
  16. Its actually very good. For those of you who absolutely despise cheating, then you have to read this. For those of you who understand that it is part of our culture and dont really care, then it shouldnt bother you.
  17. are people truly thinking that Manny is using this solely as a sexual enhancer? How many on here are THAT gullible
  18. that is for the sox fans who like to pretend that the yankees were the only champion to have tainted players on their teams. I dont care. But there are plenty of people on this site who maintain that the yankees championships are tainted because of Clemens and Pettitte. For those people, seeing Manny fail a drug test is ironic, eh? For those who didnt make those statements, then this doesnt apply to you.
