  1. Dont come to the thread then. Did you need to comment? No, you didnt. Go away.
  2. The Phillies are a great fastball hitting team. Beckett just wasnt a good matchup, IMO. He located well early on, but once the ball started riding over the plate, he was doomed. Same with Bard.
  3. Mets pitching coach blaming a blister.
  4. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/unfiltered/?p=1311 One is a 19 yr old LHP who tops out at 93 and has been pitching at Cuba's highest level. The other is a young SS with great hands who has good, but not great, offensive potential.
  5. CC is gonna end up in the top 5. Halladay, barring a deal to the NL is damn near a lock.
  6. and I bet all of you would take that kind of obnoxiousness every season until you die. Their results are impressive
  7. You do know that by doing that, the sox will be hurt a ton. The sox are one of the biggest spenders in the draft. Especially over the past 5 yrs. Putting a draft salary cap would significantly impact your farm system production
  8. did you see the ball he hit right down the line, at 485 feet?
  9. I wouldnt do a damn thing. So long as his trigger is timed right, he'll be just fine. He's got a lot of loft, but it is a quick swing with a ton of lower body generated power. He's not a huge kid, but he gets so much out of his lower half that he's damn near a finished product. Watch the video again and check out the torque in his hips, check out the internal rotation of the front hip during the trigger. Its just a beautiful thing. Whoever taught him how to hit taught him the perfect mechanics. His front hand elevates throught he swing generating a lot of backspin leading to tons of loft and the sound of the ball off his bat is crazy. Most metal bats have a ping to em. Some of the balls he is hitting have a crack to them not typically heard with a metal bat. Its as if he is swinging at another level compared to the rest of the crowd.
  10. I hope you do. He has made such significant strides since his conversion to the pen that he could become much, much better. Honestly, I had seen him once before when I was in Florida before he converted to the pen. What I see now is just ridiculously different. He used to have a fear of contact. He got over that quickly. He used to have no control of the slider and he rectified that as well. His problem now, is something he has always had, and thats problems pitch to pitch with his fastball. If he ever gets enough control to get the fastball out of the middle and onto the corners consistently, he'll be a big league closer for a LONG time. I hope you do deal him. I dont want to face a 1-2 punch of an improved Bard then Paps. Games will be 7 innings short. At least we can hit Ramirez and Delcarmen. I dont think we'll hit this kid when he gets his s*** straight
  11. He did say his goal is to wear pinstripes at some point in his career. I would assume he wouldnt sabotage his leverage by telling 29 of the 30 not to draft him
  12. can someone fix that
  13. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/athletics/index He needs a spinal fusion in his lumbar spine which would cause him to lose a ton of torque and also make it nearly impossible to swing with force. He's headed to surgery, and if they do fuse it, he's done.
  14. The wildness finally caught up with Daniel Bard. You cannot continually throw 97 down the heart of the plate without getting hit. Once they started hitting his fastball, he got gun shy. Now is the time for him to learn from it, not turtle and become a shell of himself. But kids will be kids. I think he has a fantastic future, he just isnt ready to take on a bigger role just yet IMO.
  15. Robertson is earning some stripes in NY. I'd bring up Melancon, get rid of Veras and start working these kids in.
  16. He'd get 30 mil easy from the yankees. The Nats likely wont make that kind of commitment to a HSer. That being said, he's the best high school catcher since Mauer. And in terms of raw talent and skills, he blows Mauer out of the water (talking same age).
  17. his swing is picture perfect and the balls he is hitting are retarded. Remember, he's swinging with a college metal bat, which is a lot deader than the bats most of you guys used when you were younger. HS just changed over when I started to the deader version. He is hitting just ridiculous moonshots.
  18. I bet he's on some serious roids.
  19. he is the best 16 yr old offensive talent I have ever seen scouting reports and videos on. He had a BP session where he was hitting balls into the upper deck of a MLB stadium with wood.
  20. You are retarded. Seriously, retarded. Swish has had no success against KRod, but we're talking about 11 at bats. That is such a small sample size that you cannot even really use it. It was a 1 run game. Swisher has the capability of hitting the ball out of the bandbox, which would have tied the game up. Pinch hitting for him wasnt the right move. Pinch hitting for Gardner would have been. And saying he has success against closers is just absolutely hilarious. He's had one big hit, actually, one big 17 bounce dribbler that got by the immense range of Julio Lugo. You continue to spout lunacy, as per usual.
  21. Dont be douchebags, post in the draft thread. This is solely an update on signings.
  22. the trade was fair. You gave a former all star caliber OFer a second chance in the least pressurized major league environment known to man and you got back a reliever with solid stuff who has battled inconsistency and injury through his short career. If both reached their peaks, then Coco would be worth more than a middle inning reliever obviously, but it was a move that has worked out for both sides to this point
