  1. The Tigers would ask for more for Cabrera. He's a better player than AdGon and he's younger IIRC
  2. He also signed Angel Villalona to a big bonus, only to find out the guy is a murderer
  3. This f***s with the sox cap numbers, thats about it. If Boston paid $9 million towards Lowell's move to Texas, that $9 million doesnt hit their cap. As far as the cap is concerned, the sox would have no tie to Lowell at all. With him back in the fold, that means that the $12 mil hits their cap and potentially puts them over. I forsee another deal, but the sox might need to eat the whole thing to get rid of him.
  4. Kung Fu Panda is going nowhere
  5. I am not about to expect 28 homers out of Johnson. He'll probably sit in the 15 range, but his OBP will blow Matsui's away. Matsui had a great yr, but Johnson's OBP last yr was 60 points higher. Think about that, he reached base 16% more than Matsui did. That's crazy
  6. You have to give them a shot at some point. If they completely fail, acquiring one midseason is easy as pie. We trade our #7 or #8 catching prospect for Hairston and we dealt a guy were going to release for Hinske
  7. You just signed Scutaro. You arent trading for Hanley.
  8. Generous offers? Do you know of any? I have heard speculation, but I havent heard any offers.
  9. For the first 162, it is more about how you compare to the rest of the league rather than head to head. Also, do we need to go into the rotation differences here again and how the final two spots on both teams are crap shoots? Regardless, I'll go to war knowing that the Yankee roster will outperform the sox roster over 162 games and then be willing to hand the ball to CC 2 times in a 5 game set and 3 times in a 7 game set.
  10. If I was a sox fan, I would hate that lineup as is. #1- its a major dropoff from 2009, but we have been over that ad nauseum. #2- it is a very easy matchup. Get through Youk and you have 3 lefties in 4 batters. Anyone with any kind of lefty reliever will burn through that portion of the order. I liked the idea of flip-flopping Cameron and Drew and Kotchmann and Scutaro
  11. Gonzalez has 2 yrs left on his deal. By 2012, Hanley will be on the market.
  12. It would have taken Kelly 2-3 yrs to get onto the national prospect stage as a SS, if he made it at all. He's already there as a pitcher.
  13. Hanley is not getting traded. You fixate on him, but he's paid actually bargain money through 2013 and the Fish are opening a new stadium soon. He's the face of the franchise, putting up MVP numbers for $11 mil a season.
  14. I do think the "fear" factor is going to go down, as Matsui was an assasin in big spots. But, I also think that overall, our runs generated will either hover or improve while our runs allowed will decrease with our current offensive and defensive concoction
  15. The sox should be in on AdGon. I doubt Mauer happens. I doubt Pujols happens. Both are staying in their respective cities or coming to NY IMO. There is no way we let them get to the cash conscious Theo
  16. Explain how we got marginally worse? We picked up 2 hitters who played in pitchers parks who had pretty solid seasons overall, yet they were statistically down yrs. We upgrade defensively and in the OBP category overall. The power category is likely to be a downgrade. Thats the only downgrade is in the power category, and that's just a theoretical since we dont know if YS is going to increase the power of the two younger players. Seriously, quit threatening to jump off the bridge and just f***ing do it. You are the example of a spoiled Yankee fan, someone who embarasses the true fans here. Just because you watch d gamezzz doesnt and shell out money doesnt mean you are a true fan. You're just as fake a fan as the pink hats in Boston.
  17. I meant more like RH anything. Our lineup is full of switch hitters and really 2 RHH who will be in the lineup every day in ARod and Jeter. Hoffman has hit lefties well through the minors and he could be a complete and total bust in the bigs vs them. Who knows. But someone will have to fill that role of RHH off the bench, and he's the first guy to get the shot. If we somehow get DeRosa on the cheap, then he isnt needed
  18. Gonzalez hasnt made a trade demand, but he has expressed interest in Boston should he be traded. Hell, he's the lifeblood of that organization. He's a Mexican-American in a very heavily populated Mexican area. He's a good story, he's a community kind of guy and he's someone who is worth the price of admission. Outside of him, there is no draw to come and watch the games. Hence, from a financial standpoint, it makes no fiscal sense to deal him without getting some sort of major league ready talent back. And from Boston, that MLB ready talent would be Ells and Buch. And if the sox deal those two, they will create other holes that will make the acquisition a bit hollow. Now, as Gonzalez progresses towards FA, at the deadline or next offseason, Hoyer may relent a bit on the MLB ready talent part and suffice with some MiLB players with high upsides. Any deal the sox make this yr for AdGon would be detrimental to their 2010 team. Any deal they make next yr could be very beneficial to their 2011 team. It all changes when the desperation shifts from the tradees to the traders.
  19. There is zero chance he comes to Boston since the Cubs view themselves as contenders. And Lee is their best player.
  20. In terms of bench options, if Johnson goes down, which is very possible, Miranda steps up into the DH role and we keep the OF as is, Melky/Grandy/Swish. I love Gardner as the #4 OFer and hell, he could outplay Melky and take over the LF spot. I am still intrigued by his ability to reach base. I'll tell you what, I'll take Gardner if he can maintain a .360+OBP over Melky any day, since he can make things happen from the bottom of the order on the bases and he runs circles around Melky in the OF. Plus, Hoffman is apparently a very good OFer, and we could use more right handed thunder on the bench since Granderson and Johnson are lefties.
  21. If I had to choose, I dont think I send Hughes to the pen. We kept Hughes in the pen simply because Joba was pitching well and Hughes really didnt need another yr of minor league seasoning. But between the two, Joba is better suited for pen work
  22. The only yr we regressed, we lost 2 of our middle of the order presences in Matsui and Posada, while replacing them with crap and more crap. The Yankees have been so offensively successful because they get prime production from historically weak offensive positions. Posada, Jeter, and Cano give them top 3 level production from C, 2B, and SS which means that they need less out of the rest. That being said, their two best hitters occupy the corner IF positions, but the point remains
  23. The price wont be. A lot of teams need pitching and Sheets is the only one who can provide top of the rotation production if healthy. Sheets is like Holliday IMO. He's a luxury
