  1. Lets see how we can squander another great scoring opportunity
  2. If Atchison comes in for the 9th, I will laugh really hard
  3. Swisher has impressed the hell out of me thus far. He really worked hard this offseason
  4. Regardless, the Yankees are doing their best to squander plenty of opportunities. Tex looks like he did last April. Aceves continues to just throw strikes. I like him. Stuff is average, but his approach is solid and he gets outs. He might give up a few longballs, but he gets the job done overall

  6. That great catch was necessitated by an incredibly poor route
  7. this makes no sense. Daniel Snyder pulling his usual ********. Has he not figured out that the NFL is won and lost based on DRAFTING well and then filling in holes around the guys you develop? Washington will not be relevant until they take that path
  8. Both teams got a lot of production from the bottom of the order. Kinda surprising since both of our aces were on the bump. Typically, the bottoms of the orders go silent when CC or Josh are pitching
  9. he said offensively speaking.
  10. Figured I would start it since we now only have 161 games left in the season. Recap from Game 1: Starting with pitching- Sabathia had good stuff, just waning control and he got tired right around 80 pitches. Probably not the best idea to have him go over 100 pitches on opening day, especially since he was losing steam in the 5th. David Robertson added a touch to his fastball and otherwise looked okay Damaso Marte was wild as hell Chan Ho Park needs to do something to change the plane of his fastball. It is straight as an arrow. He will be called Homerun Park from now until he proves he can be effective in NY Joba had some heat and his slider was sick, he just had pretty poor command for game 1. Onto the offense: Jeter was solid as usual. Nick Johnson didnt get a hit, but his OBP was .400 (2 walks), I like that. Tex looked rusty ARod had one big hit, thats about it Cano-Posada-Granderson accounted for 4 of the 6 RBIs. Swish got on base twice Gardner is a pest, he saw the most pitches per PA last night on the Yankees, stole home and had two hits. Overall, 18 baserunners in 9 innings and 7 runs isnt too bad. Now, seeing as game #2 is coming up, I expect the offense to go dormant for the near future and re-emerge in May
  11. http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/mlb/news/story?id=5055335 Sounds like the money is closer to $70 million for 4 yrs and there is no shoulder injury language in it. That might be the kicker here. I bet, with language in the contract for a shoulder injury, the sox would have gone to a 5th season. But without it, they were only comfortable with 4
  12. Scutaro is a pest, and he is better than Green. But getting behind the #9 hitter on any team is a recipe for disaster. Just ridiculous that nobody could throw strike 1 to him. Beltre hammered fastballs all night. Not sure why people throw him fastballs especially out over the plate. He can be pitched to, just like any major leaguer, but you gotta be careful with him. Cameron was meh. Schoeneweis has nothing, but got some loogy outs. Overall, sox fans have to be pleased with game 1 from the new crowd
  13. Posada has outplayed VMart over his career and has outplayed him 4 yrs running. Why is this missed so much and why is Posada so quickly overlooked?
  14. Wicked cheesy beginning. Why the hell did Pedro throw out the first pitch, he isnt retired. He could very well be a sox opponent come June. The 5 yr old kid? Seriously, stupid. Steven Tyler was high, Neil Diamond was awful. In terms of the game, kinda surprised since most pitchers start out ahead of hitters, but no pitcher looked sharp. CC looked good early, but really had spotty command. Girardi left him out there WAY too long. I was drinkin with my buddy during the game and we both were yelling for him to take him out coming into the 6th. But, alas, Girardi did not heed the writing on the wall, especially since it was opening day and he already had a high pitch count. Beckett had his fastball, but couldnt locate his breaking pitches or his change, which meant the Yankees sat dead red and lit him up. I have no idea why anyone throws Beltre fastballs for strikes. He looks lost on breaking pitches, but he can hit anybody's fastball. Scutaro was a pest, but he was given gift after gift by our staff. How you go 3-0 or 3-1 on the #9 hitter is beyond me. Ellsbury in left is gonna take some time to learn the wall, but his range to his left is gonna take away some EBH. Homerun Park better learn to keep his fastball down or he will be on another team soon. But it looked like the yankee relievers had the same problem Beckett did. Couldnt locate the breaking pitches and had to come in with the cheese and got pounded. Regardless, its game 1, I was shocked our offense hit as well as it did this early in the season. Should be a fun game tomorrow night.
  15. Yes, I can. They are in Connecticut, a state that is divided down the middle between Yankee and Red Sox fandom. They already have one of the biggest homers in broadcasting in Gammons and now they sign 2 former sox greats to be on their panel? That's just ridiculous. Any shred of decency they had is now gone.
  16. The fact that Schilling AND Nomar are both on Baseball Tonight takes all of the guise off the Boston preference of the 4 letter network. It is sickening how biased they are
