  1. Do you remember the night game vs the Mariners, King Felix vs DiceK? Felix threw a 1 hitter or something, but DiceK was throwing 97-98mph. Maybe the guns were "juiced", but he was throwing ched. Havent seen it since
  2. Suzuki is not getting dealt any time soon.
  3. Hughes showed really, really good stuff. He got squeezed a bit, as did Kazmir, but I couldnt be more pleased with his first start. Couple things I want to see more of out of him. I'd like to see him throw the change a bit more, and to not be afraid to go after hitters. He only allowed 2ER, which was good, but he was nibbling a bit more than a guy with his stuff needs to. Even though he was throwing 91-93mph, nobody seemed to see it well as most guys were reacting as if it was 98mph. Sometimes, with nobody on, its better to let em hit it than walk em. Cano is a frickin beast. A beast. What I love about him right now, is that even though he has only 1 walk, he is being very patient. He's working the count more than he ever has and it shows. He's only swinging at his pitch and he isnt missing it. I am surprised people are even pitching to him. Granderson has been a breath of fresh air thus far. His speed, power combo has been just wonderful to watch. Hope it keeps up, especially against lefties. Overall, 3 series wins against playoff contenders, 2 of them on the road. Cannot complain, especially with CC tonight
  4. Really psyched to see Hughes tonight. I understand that he'll be inconsistent, but look forward to it anyway
  5. The offense will score. The rotation will have at least 3 solid contributors. The big ?? Is the pen thus far. That's the only worry sox fans should have. The rest is what it is
  6. Catcher's ERA is overrated. But, he has never been a good defensive catcher and he can't throw out runners to save his life
  7. the sox problem last yr was that.. A: They got shut down on the road B: They couldnt hit good pitching If this game continues as is, the sox will have gone 3-3 on their 6 game roadie. 27 runs in 5 games is a pretty nice 5.4 runs per game clip. 16 of those runs, though, came in 2 games mostly off a terrible Gil Meche and a failing KC pen. We will get a much better idea of how they will play when they dont play one of the worst teams in all of baseball
  8. Morneau hit the piss out of that one
  9. Forgot the game was a day gamer
  10. 4 straight balls hit well.
  11. If he's got no slider or curveball again, then yeah the sox will light him up. I think it should come back at some point.
  12. He looks like he did last yr in the first 2 months. Nobody was more shocked than I was last yr when he turned it on. For 2 months, his bat looked slow, and his bat control was terrible. Then he took off. With Hermida hitting, and Lowell on the bench, Papi cannot take 2 months to get going. If Papi is still hitting like absolute dogshit by the time NY comes to town again in May, then he's gonna get phased out. And, I know a lot of people think he'd stay with the team, etc. I don't. A Big Papi that isnt hitting is not useful to the team. My guess is he gets cut
  13. You gotta lose sometime. Vazquez had nothing again. He had better location today than his last start, but his stuff was just crappy. Should turn around, but we'll see. The key to defeating the Yankees is to throw a lot of strikes to the corners and to keep the ball in the yard. With Piniero now being a sinkerballer, he keeps the ball in the yard. He didnt walk a batter and he was just pumping in strikes left and right. He was dynamite, so sometimes you just tip your cap. More interested in seeing Hughes tomorrow, but if we can take that game, three straight series wins looks pretty nice
  14. It's a nice story, but being a nice guy stops helping him once he hits the batters box.
  15. In terms of lineups, I agree with him. NY, Minny, and TB have deeper lineups with bigger bats in the middle. Minnesota, even without Nathan has a good pen and a reasonable rotation. TB has a good rotation, but an abysmal pen. We'll see how they are when Howell returns. NY has a good pen, a good rotation, and a very strong lineup. Boston has an above average lineup, a good rotation, and what should be a good pen after they sort some things out. In terms of complete teams, I dont see TB making the playoffs, and I think NY wins the ALE and the Sox win the ALWC
  16. It was his wave. I didnt notice the facial droop until I saw the pictures and was alerted by a friend. But if you watch the motion, he waved to the camera, and it just looked so uncoordinated, something I wouldnt expect from a top notch athlete.
  17. Dye got the same offer that went out to Xavier Nady from the Cubs. Dye rejected it, Nady took it. Dye rejected offers from a few other teams too, because he didnt want to uproot his family. This is nothing but a black guy speaking out for his friend, but using the race card once again. Seriously, the race card should be taken away from everyone nowadays
  18. Shutout through 4 and a half. Sweeet!
  19. Pettitte looking nasty
  20. Seriously, 1st and 3rd, no out and we canot hit a f***ing flyball? You have to be s***ing me?
  21. Cano with a double. He is just mauling the baseball
  22. Yep, he couldnt hit a lick for 6 games, and in his first AB at home, he finds the RF seats nice and friendly
  23. Yankees up 1-0, Johnson hits a blast
  24. Good opening for Pettitte. Just wish I could watch it. I get to listen to Sterling and Waldman, yuk
  25. I was just wondering if we could evaluate the merits of JD Drew just one more time. I don't think we went over this enough
