    Response to Manny. Interesting move. I guess they do have the lowest record among playoff contenders, not including LA who wouldn't be interested (kind of surprised they didn't block it though--couldn't they have blocked it?).

    Generalization. I, for one, appreciate what Foulke, Bellhorn and Schilling did-I cheer whenever any of the '04 squad (Terry Adams included!) comes back to Fenway. Schill shouldn't get a free pass though.

    But a pitcher can go 7 innings, allow 1 run and get a loss. A pitcher can also go 5 innings, allow 5 runs and get a win. I mean, W-L says something about how a pitcher is doing, but I can think of tons of stats that say more.
