    Good move, I heard a bunch of teams were interested. Nelson's 2008 (albeit in Florida): 2.00 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 60 K, 22 B in 54 IP.

    Free agent corner outfielders who are absolutely guaranteed a starting gig in 2009: Manny Ramirez, Pat Burrell, Adam Dunn, Milton Bradley, Bobby Abreu. That's five guys. You're telling me that of these five guys, there won't be enough teams who are interested?

    Good for him if this gets done. He would have been nice here with the infield defense but it's no big loss. This puts the rotation at: 1. Johan Santana 2. Derek Lowe 3. John Maine 4. Mike Pelfrey 5. Jon Niese?

    Also I wouldn't be surprised if instead of getting Salty they traded for Eric Byrnes and Miguel Montero in a Julio Lugo and pitching prospects package. Cafardo talked about it in the Globe on Sunday.
