So with Jack Cust manning DH by default, Giambi has to play the field. And I guess that means Daric Barton is sent to the bench, bummer.

If by "impact everyday player" he means "stud everyday player", then I agree. But you would be hard pressed to find a fair deal for a young, top half of the rotation starter who has 4 years on his contract at 9MM AAV.

Why would he be received poorly? There was no way he was coming back, and he didn't go to a rival. He's not one of the Yankee greats, but he did well in his time.

I didn't realize how bad Crawford was last year, but I think he's a good bet to bounce back to his normal form of low 800s OPS and more steals. He primarily hit 2nd or 3rd last year, so I doubt he drops as far down as you say.

As nice as these facts/opinions are, they don't really matter. WS MVPs are a small sample size, and Tex is a better fielder than Lowell. As for the poll, of course the answer is yes. But it didn't happen, and we still have Lowell and Lars soon. It's not the end of the world. -
