    This is a brutal stretch for the Sox: 1st place Tigers, 1st place Rangers, 1st place Yankees, 1st place Phillies. While this series sucked, we're still 4-2 so far in the stretch.

    It looks that way. The Angels may get back in it but I don't think their record will match the Sox or Yanks'.

    Looks like the Rays' bullpen woke up after last year. I don't think they look like a playoff team this year, and it's hard to imagine a scenario in which the Sox and Yanks don't both make the playoffs.

    This is mostly true, yes. Still you have to expect DiceK will improve and last longer. He's not as good as he was last year, but I don't think anybody expected that anyways.

    Fair enough. Who gets in in the 2010 ballot? New notable players include: Roberto Alomar, Barry Larkin, Edgar Martinez, Fred McGriff. I think you can make a good case for Alomar and Larkin. IMO Martinez and McGriff are reaches. However, I don't think any of them get in on the first ballot. I'd say Andre Dawson is the only one.

    I just think he's too poor of an offensive player (really, this is his third above average offensive year according to OPS+) to warrant a vote.
