  1. Yes, I've got a Baseball Abstracts book coming out fairly soon. No, in all seriousness, I was just reminding everyone of that because people like to throw around ERAs a lot with relievers. However, why would you want to judge a reliever based on what he would do in a 9 inning game? Relievers don't pitch 9 innings in an outing. For most, it takes 9 outings.
  2. ERA is not a good stat to use when judging relievers. Just thought you should know that. However, Timlin is the man, got his 6th hold tonight.
  3. For the love of god, has Tito been daydreaming all night?
  4. I'm not sure if I'm in good standing with this board or not, especially after last night, but I'll put my predictions down anyways... Wins: 4 HR: 6 Runs: 23
  5. Do you have to criticize everything that I say?
  6. I added Foulke in there because of his outing in the extra inning game Terry may have some renewed confidence in him. However, in my opinion, I'd still say Timlin gets the nod.
  7. Do you guys think we see a Delcarmen/Foulke or Timlin/Papelbon rotation Today?
  8. Whoa, close minded? I'm all for giving everyone a chance to succeed, and I don't write everyone off after one game. Do you not see my patience with Wily Mo Pena?
  9. Thank god it's not the bottom half of the rotation starting those two games.
  10. He didn't really give his stance to the caller, because the caller kept blabbing away.
  11. I third that.
  12. Again, just because theres been change doesn't mean it was a good change. Interleague play? Not a good change. How does putting numbers or names on a uniform affect the actual game itself? And what about night games, how did playing at night affect the actual game? And why is steroids used as a valid justification for instant replay? You lost me there.
  13. I hear that he has excellent command and changes speeds effectively but as you stated his fastball isn't so great. He's got to be better than DiNardo though, that guy just hangs everything out over the plate, and I'm sorry I didn't bring out the question earlier.
  14. Yeah, right now, but Alvarez, if he comes up and proves to be an excellent 5th starter then the argument becomes not so ludacris. I guess what I'm asking is, if anyone thinks Alvarez could turn out to be Arroyo's replacement, production wise?
  15. Why is this thread a joke? I was asking everyone for their opinions and all I get is hostility in return.
  16. Wily Mo Pena was a move for the future. His plate discipline has already improved ever since he's gotten here, and he just needs to continue to do so, and once that happens you'll start to see him hit for power. Honestly, I have a good feeling about Roger Clemens coming here, and once that happens the issue with Arroyo as far as I'm concerned is a dead one.
  17. Whats with the hostility? And yes I know you can't compare a pitchers stats from AAA to a guy whos pitching in the majors, but in my opinion I think Alvarez is going to be a nice replacement for Arroyo. Jesus, you guys make it sound like Arroyo was a godsend. I watched him in spring training and he didn't look that great. Sure, he's off to a great start but lets not forget he's pitching in the National League.
  18. Abe Alvarez: 3-0 1.96 ERA 23.0 IP 11 H 5 ER 3 HR 7 BB 12 K Bronson Arroyo: 3-0 3.04 ERA 26.2 IP 24 H 9 ER 5 HR 5 BB 22 K Ok, Arroyo has a better BB/K ratio, but other than that everything else favors Alvarez.
  19. just said that Bronson Arroyo is a better pitcher than Abe Alvarez. Is anyone buying this crap?
  20. I agree, it is pathetic, but he's only trying to get a rise out of everyone.
  21. Don't get pissed at that ******** sweetheart. He's only trying to retaliate against my negative comment about the Toronto fanbase.
  22. The truth hurts doesn't it? Toronto can only seem to sell out the Rogers Centre when they're in the playoffs. Look at how the team is doing this year and theres still a whole upper deck of seats that are empty. It goes to show how passionate your pseudo-fanbase is.
  23. Thank you for explaining.
