  1. Would you want him to experience a jump like that in the AL East? Like I said, we've seen it with Foulke and I just don't think he's worth that much.
  2. 2004 - 8 HR in 82.2 IP - 1 HR every 10.23 IP 2005 - 9 HR in 74.1 IP - 1 HR every 8.23 IP 2006 - 13 HR in 73.1 IP - 1 HR every 5.62 IP Now, in a spacious ballpark like RFK, that sort of jump in HR allowed really worries me. And I know it's possible that they weren't all in RFK, but what will that translate to in Fenway, the land of 315 foot pop fly homeruns? edit - Compare that to say, Mike Timlin, who gave up 2 HR in 80.1 IP in 2005 and 7 in 64 in 2006. Yes, it's also a sizeable jump, but I think Timlin's woes were due to injury and I feel he will bounce back as a very serviceable reliever in 2007. double edit - I've been beaten to the punch. But the numbers are all the same.
  3. Johan Santana isn't going ANYWHERE.
  4. Jacko, let me be clear when I say I wouldn't have problems dealing Bucholz or Bowden for someone who can help the team, but I just don't think putting them both in a package for Cordero is a smart investment. Yes, Cordero has had great success but he reminds me a lot of Keith Foulke. He's not terribly overpowering, his HR rates have increased, and if he loses control of his high 80s/low 90s fastball there could be a lot of problems. I would love to have Chad Cordero on this team. But if a package of a combo of two of WMP/Hansen/Bowden doesn't get it done, then it shouldn't get done.
  5. I think this is the way you can do it that will work the best. You can still use the BCS computers to rank the teams 1-8. This year you'd probably have the matchups of: Ohio State/Boise State Florida/Wake Forest Michigan/Louisville LSU/Notre Dame I think all of the top seeds would go, leaving: Ohio State/LSU Florida/Michigan Then you'd get a National Championship game of: Ohio State/Michigan You can use the losers of the games to fill in the BCS bowls in the appropriate spot in the rotation, for instance the losers in the first round would play 2 games, and the losers of the semis will play the other game. Sort of like consolation games. edit - I, like a moron, completely ignored the fact that USC and Oklahoma are also in the BCS this yr. In Which case you would use the computers to have teams receive byes, or something like that.

  7. I think college football is eventually going to move to a playoff system, as evidenced by the extending of the season the last few years.
  8. You say that like the man doesn't deserve a little adulation.
  9. Michigan over USC LSU over Notre Dame Wake Forest over Louisville Ohio State over Florida
  10. Giants and Redskins can eat a dick.
  11. f***ing DBacks. Oh well.
  12. All I said was that Zito being available on the market made trading RJ easier. Who's gonna start for NYY if RK gtes traded now? An AAA pitcher?
  13. I think the prospect of trading RJ was made easier knowing Steinbrenner could make a run at Zito, a proven MLB arm. I do think if RJ can net two or three young, quality arms, he will be gone. The question is, why would Arizona make that kind of deal? Why trade for a guy with a balky back that could go out on him at any second, and who sported an ERA of 5 last year? Arizona may bring him back to put fans in the stands, but at this point they should be trying to develop their deep farm system, and only trade their prospects for young talent.
  14. RJ stays put now that Zito's in SF.
  15. I also agree that RJ stays put because of this deal, unless they can get a SP in a trade. Thing is, they'd be better off just keeping RJ because I doubt he'd fetch any significant SP.
  16. Fielding % only takes into account the balls they get to. As a defense, the Sox had very poor range last year.
  17. I also think Kapler sucks something fierce.
