  1. It was June, right? And Crisp was our backup OF? Similar to why pitchers don't throw at guys late in close games and choose to do it early in the games when there is still time to recover. 1.5 games up in the Wild Card, series coming up against the 2nd place team, and he removes himself from the lineup for doing something that could be easily avoided. I don't get why people don't consider this to be selfish.
  2. But it was the second time he got hit in two games! And he got hit in the hand, which is worse for a hitter than getting hit in the back.
  3. Fantastic post, a700. This is is someone who had made millions of millions of dollars in his career who was godawful over eight starts for the Red Sox this season (BBRef has him at over $130 million for his career). However, rather than simply releasing him, the Sox aregiving him an option to play a different role with a championship-contending team. And he's declining. For what? The money? Give me a break. Good riddance.
  4. Especially with the advent of LOOGYs and ROOGYs, in addition to the specialization that had already existed.
  5. Because it's inflammatory?
  6. And if Miguel Cabrera charged Tazawa last night I'm sure Sox fans would think exactly the opposite.
  7. It hit him in the back, let's not overreact. Youkilis wears an elbow pad for a reason.
  8. Gaudin shaved his goatee, sellout
  9. Thank God My bad, I tried to edit the title as soon as I made that thread, but my computer froze on me. Won't happen again.
  10. Looked like his cut FB
  11. I think the Sox have a better chance of beating Texas without Youkilis than the Yankees without Youkilis. Serve it now.
  12. He's very, very lucky he didn't get more.
  13. When Youkilis went on the DL the first time, on 5/4, the team offensive line was .277/.370/.461/.831. From that point until Youkilis returned on 5/20, Boston's bats slumped to .264/.343/.416/.758 and their record was 7-6 during that stretch, against the following teams: Yankees Cleveland TB LAA SEA No Cleveland or Seattle on this upcoming stretch for the Sox.
  14. Color me shocked, that's pretty lenient. Youk should not even appeal that.
  15. What does this have to do with anything? If he doesn't want to get hit, back off the plate. It's not like he doesn't have f***ing body armor on, either. What?
  16. So because Youkilis plays a game for a living, it's OK for him to let his emotions get in the way of becoming a professional? Why couldn't he do what Pedroia did?
  17. I don't buy "emotions can't be controlled sometimes." It was a premeditated, conscious decision to charge the mound. He could have done what Pedroia did Thursday in a 13-4 game against the Yankees. Stare at the pitcher, voice your displeasure, and take your base.
  18. Ricky Romero's pretty awesome.
  19. If it's detrimental to the Sox, it's a selfish act. He let his emotions get the better of him. His being suspended will hurt the team more than it will help. Selfish.
  20. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9922760/Sources:-Smoltz-refuses-minors;-two-options-left Smoltz refuses MiLB assignment. Thanks for nothing, John.
  21. f*** I am running out of space in my sig How can you be a coach at a "hi" level if your grammar sucks s***?
  22. Get used to the thought, thanks to Youk's "message"
  23. God it's like we're the same person Great point
