  1. Hell of a play by Pedroia.
  2. Good AB from Bailey.
  3. God JD Drew f***ing sucks.
  4. Brian Burres is awful.
  5. f***ing idiot poster mojo!
  6. Abso-f***ing-lutely. EVen if the move worked it was still the wrong decision.
  7. I was just going to say, Jacko couldn't wait to start this thread.
  8. Your question doesn't deserve to be answered because you throw a s*** fit if the offense doesn't score 8 runs a game or is as good as the 2003 offense.
  9. No mention of the "offensive foul" on Pierce in the 3rd quarter? Might have been the worst call I've EVER seen, in ANY sporting event.
  10. Thanks CB, I thought it was in Feeding the Monster.
  11. LOB and GIDP are the direct result of the team having a high OBP. You get a lot of guys on, you will strand them.
  12. Rip, as much as I love him for what he did at UConn, has not endeared himself to me as a Piston. He hurt his arm WHILE HE HAD IT AROUND RAY ALLEN'S NECK. f***ing flopping pussy. PS f*** Chris Wallace.
  13. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=8370&position=2B Interesting stats here. O-swing is the % of pitches swung at that are out of the zone: 2006 - 27.12% 2007 - 24.41% 2008 - 22.20% Z-swing is the % of pitches swung at that are in the zone: 2006 - 60.19% 2007 - 61.49% 2008 - 61.51% Here are his total swings - 2006 - 45.10% 2007 - 44.19% 2008 - 43.66% So, if you read these stats, he's actually swinging at LESS pitches than last year, swings at THE SAME when the pitch is IN the zone, and LESS when the pitches are out of the zone. He's swinging at the right pitches, just not doing anything with them. Is he getting unlucky? This graph suggest not: http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs/8370_2B_season_full_7_20080528.png
  14. Experience with this is not something Sox fans lack. It's fun to watch Yankee fans deal with it though, so hopefully it continues.
  15. I see your point. I think it's a fair concern moving forward, although I am not of the opinion that Games 3 and 5 were their fault that it became a "game" again. Game 3 the Pistons never got closer than 9 in the 2nd half and last night was more of a result of poor play by Rajon Rondo, IMO. Is it fair to say KG tightens up at the end of games? Sure. But he's also won some big games (Game 1 of the Cleveland series and last night's FTs are good examples).
  16. None of you have ever heard this? I thought it was common knowledge.
  17. Hey man, I have no beef with you and I really enjoy the back-and-forth discussion that has been going on in this thread (the rest of the board seems dead). Anyways, I agree with your point that if the Celts want to make a serious run at the title, than winning Game 6 will probably be their best course of action. They could most certainly use the rest. As for the other argument, again, it was just for the purposes of discussion. No one was trying to get anyone else riled up. If you want to call Allen, Pierce, and Garnett career losers just because they haven't won anything, that's your call. I simply voiced my opinion why I think you're wrong and that you underestimate the value of role players surrounding these superstars. I think the discussion was relevant because there's been lots of rumblings here in the Northeast about the very thing you posited - IE Garnett, Pierce, and Allen are "career losers" or "phonies" because they are having such issues in the playoffs.
  18. Pedroia in the minors: 308/391/454 Pedroia in 2007: 317/380/442 Pedroia in 2008: 284/325/392 2007: 47 BB / 42 K 2008: 12 BB / 25 K He's walking less, striking out more, and making weaker contact. Cause for concern or minor blip?
  19. No mention of Lowell's piss-poor AB in the 9th? Putz throws 5 straight balls, and he hits his weak-ass popup. Putz then goes ahead and walks Casey on 4 or 5 pitches. Why Lowell wasn't taking until there was a strike thrown is rather stupid.
  20. Regarding Bard - I'd like to see him have some sustained success against AA batters first...but who knows, Joba redux?
  21. We're really grasping at straws at this point, aren't we?
