Heard this topic on WFAN this afternoon. Interesting question amidst all of the ARod drama - people all the time say how "lucky" the Red Sox are that the players union did not approve the trade for Alex Rodriguez. My question is - what set the wheels in motion for ARod to become a Yankee? Easy answer - Boone tears his ACL playing a game of pickup basketball.
But did this get set in motion before then? Would the Yankees trade away a home grown talent who hit a game winning HR in Game 7 of a World Series? If the HR stands up, are the Yanks as eager to dump Soriano as they were in early 2004?
I say no - Soriano was exposed at this point but he has still developed into one of the few 5 tool players in the game today. Can you imagine what the Yanks would be like if he was manning CF for them?
