  1. That wasn't really the issue though. The issue was your comment, in a tied matchup, could really influence the deciding vote. If you gave that opinion in your original analysis (which you did) I wouldn't have an issue with it (which I didn't). I find it funny that ital "suggests" there could have been foul play on my part on the last vote but then is OK with what you said. All in all, chalk it up to a misunderstanding, but you can see how I could view that tactic as petty. It'd be like Andrew Luck's fans leaking an erroneous story about Cam Newton a few weeks before the Heisman vote.
  2. I agree, this whole thing is stupid and it escalated quickly - however, it's clear that winning his thing is very important to some people. It's really not worth the hassle to get worked up over something like this. But at the same time, I found the tone rather distasteful coming from one of the more respected posters around here. As I said, losing to Y228 doesn't bother me because he has a great team and I had his pegged to win the whole thing. He clearly knows what he's talking about and his rationale for why his teams should win are the best here (and in this case, probably better than mine). I'm over this, Y228 - not upset - you made a mistake, it happens. I think the reason it got out of control is it is out of character for you.
  3. Where did I "insult voters intelligence", though? I'd like some examples.
  4. Show me where I said there's no justification for voting against my team, and maybe you've got something there. Until then, there's really no comparison to what I may have said vs "I hope the next voter isn't a Pats fan and understands the 3-4 defense." If you feel the need to say stuff like that, this is clearly important to you and more important than I view it. I think you have a really good team and I have no shame in losing to you. It's surprising you don't feel the same way, so I'll spare you the indignation of losing to someone who (a) doesn't understand football or ( has tried to rig this so he can win.
  5. And like this thread, I gave a perfectly good explanation as to why I'd vote for Coco's team. The fact that you suggested I voted for Coco to make this easier to win is unbelievable and leads me to believe you want to win this thing just a little too much. I concede to Y228 because clearly, I know nothing about football and would hate for our resident experts to be pissed off, for me beating a team I WAS RANKED HIGHER THAN.
  6. This is the same Tony Mazz who on his radio show continues to beat the "we shoulda kept Jason Bay" drum and ripped the ownership every chance he got for being cheap on the Teixera deal. Now that they've done what he bitched about he's finding new ways to whine. A troll of the highest order. NOte to Mazz - the CHB business model doesn't work anymore
  7. Players with his skill set tend to age very well. The guy was 6th in all of baseball for total WAR the last two seasons. The FA outfield class for 2012'was very weak, Theo decided he wanted his guy a year early. For those who say defense doesn't matter, he is by far and away the best defensive leftfielder in the game and he excels at coming in on the ball (translation - no bloop singles in LF at Fenway this season). Really, it comes down to this - were all used to seeing big sluggers who can't run and don't have any defensive value get monster deals - we just haven't seen the opposite be true until now. The skills that make Crawford who he is will age well and he should be a productive player throughout the course of this deal.
  8. This matchup is tied 2-2. Next vote from someone in this league decides it.
  9. This matchup is tied 2-2. Next vote by a participant of this league decides it.
  10. What? His performance has gotten better! He has similar peripheral stats to Bard.
  11. I just said it in the other thread, but Jenks is the best reliever deal of the offseason. Dupree outlined his peripherals but they're actually GETTING BETTER every year. SO much better than going three years on Guerrier or Benoit.
  12. Jenks for 2/12 is the best reliever contract of the offseason. Score another one for Theo.
  13. WRT Rodgers, I can count on one hand games he "shouldn't have won" but did. You went over that in one season with Brady. Just sayin'
  14. I think this is a pretty even matchup, I'd like to post some preliminary thoughts on each team. I think ital's O-line is the worst of the four remaining, but i think they can do a good enough job on WB's pass rush to give Manning time. I don't agree that his 1-2-3 are the best in the game. Marshall and Welker are redundant in this offense. Smith is OK but does anyone really think he'll be the deep treat hebis now in three years? That being said, ital has a great QB and an excellent safety blanket in Clark, who I imagine will do some serious damage over the middle. This game has shootout written all over it, but because of the Jackson/Johnson/Bess tandem ( who I like better than ital's), I think WB can make more big plays in the end. WB 35 ital 30
  15. Since we don't have WB's explanation in yet, I'm extending voting this round to Friday @ 8 AM. Even if you're out, please vote.
  16. I hear Carl Pavano is still available
  17. It's important to note Lee had a reverse split against LHH last season. Not sure if itstrue for his whole career.
  18. One final thing to consider - the quarterbacks. As a Packers fan, I have a vested interest in seeing Rodgers do well, and while there are few in the league better at executing the home run play, I have my doubts he can be a successful quarterback when you make him go on prolonged drives. It seems to me that Rodgers is currently following a path of Matt Schaub, where he compiles unbelievable numbers but it doesn't translate into team wins rather than Brady/Manning/Brees/Big Ben, where their success is part of a bigger picture. I hate to use the phrase "big game quarterback"( but Rodgers has maybe won one or two games he wasn't "supposed" to win. Brady has made his living doing that.
