  3. Moroney will be a 2.5mil cap hit...so there's no advantage to ditch him. They will at least bring him to camp and see what happens

  6. I'm in...Suitcase of Courage is the team name and dues were sent via paypal.
  7. I'm in as well, looking forward to it.

  9. The difference is arod, clemens, and even pettitte have been proven to be liars...so we are skeptical when Pettitte says 'i only did it once, or twice' (i forget which once he landed on) and arod says i only did it from 01-03. History tells us that they have been dishonest when it comes to their history with PED's, so we have a right to be skeptical. If Ortiz is proven to be guilty of using PED's then he will be hammered here as well. Do I think it's possible he used, yes...but I will reserve judgment until he has been proven to have used. Bringing up an old article, where he talks about things he did in his youth and comparing it to the current situation is just foolishness.
  10. Mel Kiper, who is usually hibernates throughout the year until draft time, held a conference call...here are some excerpts: http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/2009/02/kiper_likes_cas.html
  11. Cassel officially signs the franchise tender: http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/02/07/cassel-likely-to-remain-in-new-england/
  12. Apparently the 2003 samples were supposed to be destroyed, but someone at the PA forgot to fill out the right paperwork and they were never destroyed, so the government got it in a seizure....per ESPN. Whoever this guy is that forgot better be running for the hills.
  13. I think you're pretty close with that. There is also a chance that he could bring a pick and a player, although with the way the pats love picks it would have to be a great deal.
  14. Apparently he is.
  15. Here's a breakdown of potential teams in need of a QB this off-season: http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/2009/02/national-football-post-diner-news-93/
  16. You can make the argument that they were a 'dropped TD pass by Gafney against the colts' and a '3rd and long stop in OT against the Jets' away from going 12-4 / 13-3.
  17. With the QB market the way it is...and some teams draft history, it's easy to see Cassel's stock go up. Just a few high draft picks I can think of: Heath Shuler - Redskins 1994 Ryan Leaf - Chargers 1998 Akili Smith - Bengals 1999 Tim Couch - Browns 1999 Cade Mcnown- Bear 1999 Jim Druckenmiller - 49ers 1997 Rick Mirer - Seahawks 1993 Patrick Ramsey - Redskins 2002 Kyle Boller - Ravens 2003 Joey Harrington - Lions 2002 Leinart and Young seem to be heading down the path as well. Over the years teams have given up high draft picks for QB's that they hope can make the transition to the NFL...it's not crazy to think a team would give up the same thing or more for a guy like Cassel who has played in the NFL....especially with the draft looking the way it does.

  19. Atlanta and Houston swapped picks 8 and 10. I don't think anyone will give up 2 1st's for Cassel. (although anythings possible in this market) I do think it's possible someone will give up a 1st and something else. I never said I agree with the article, just that it's interesting what Pioli is thinking (if what is said is true) since he helped draft and watched him over the last 4 years.

  21. The QB position is the most important in the NFL....many teams are willing to give up a lot to take a chance on someone who has won in the NFL. Matt Schaub: Only started 2 games for Atlanta, and commanded a swapped 1st and two 2nd rounders. AJ Feeley: Started 5 games and commanded a 2nd round pick Both Feely and Schaub were traded in years where there was a good crop of highly rated QB's coming out of college...this year there isn't one. The only 2 projected 1st round pics are: Sanchez - who's coach came out and said he thought it was a mistake Stafford - who has a great arm, but seems to be slow reading defenses The question the teams in need of a QB need to answer is; would they rather drop a 1st on one of these guys or Cassel? IMO the most telling sign of what people really expect out of Cassel is what KC does with Pioli at the helm. Pioli knows Cassel, so it will be interesting to see what value he places on him and whether it's worth it for him.
  22. Could be a 2nd and 3rd or 4th......we'll see. What some non pats fans are saying:
  23. It's official. http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/2009/02/patriots_franch.html I doubt anyone signs him under the franchise tender. My guess is the pats trade him before the draft, probably a first and 3rd or 4th pick. The market is good for him and the pats, considering both high end QB's coming out aren't of the matt ryan variety.
