ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Toronto Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay was knocked out of Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Angels in the first inning when Garret Anderson lined a single off his pitching elbow. Halladay departed after 16 pitches with two out and runners at first and third. He was replaced by Josh Towers, who pitched for the first time since being recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday. It was the right-hander's first relief appearance since Aug. 30, 2003, when he worked 2 2/3 innings for his only save in the big leagues. Towers was 1-9 with a 9.11 ERA in 12 starts this season before getting sent to the minors on June 27.
