  1. well just take a look at their stats last year and at Spring. And i dunno if they were ever meant to be closers for 07. THey need a boost of confidence which AAA will do most likely

  3. heres the article from Redsox.com FORT MYERS, Fla. -- One day, Devern Hansack was throwing three perfect innings in a start against the Devil Rays. The next, he was getting optioned back to Triple-A Pawtucket. In this case of Sunday morning's transaction, it was not an injustice. Instead, the Red Sox were essentially telling Hansack how much they think of him by sending him to the Minor Leagues at this juncture of camp. "Hansack, we want him to go start in Triple-A," said Red Sox manager Terry Francona. "That gives us the option where he can do both. If you put him in the bullpen, and then we need a starter, that rules that out, and we don't want to do that." Last year at this time, Hansack wasn't even on the radar. The Red Sox had just signed him to a Minor League contract after a two-year absence from professional baseball. But he had a good year at Double-A Portland, and after the Sea Dogs won the Eastern League championship, Hansack earned himself a promotion to Boston in mid-September. In the 2006 regular-season finale at Fenway, Hansack threw five no-hit innings in a rain-shortened victory over the Orioles. "Last year, he wasn't even in camp," Francona said. "This year, there's disappointment that he didn't make the club. It's an unbelievable jump. He did a fantastic job this spring. He has a bright future. We tried to make sure he understood that." Hansack, who hails from Nicaragua, is 29 years old. The Red Sox are convinced he can be a classic, late bloomer. Does the club project him as a starter or a reliever? "Either/or," said Francona. "Again, some of it will depend on how his maturity as a pitcher develops, but it may be needed at the Major League level, too." In five appearances this spring, Hansack posted a 2.08 ERA. He struck out eight batters over his 8 2/3 innings of work. "It's not fun to tell somebody that and see the disappointment, but he needs to go start," Francona said. "It's probably the right thing to do. I wanted him to get his three innings yesterday. We don't want a kid like that to come here and not pitch. That would hurt his development, [and] we don't need to do that." The Red Sox made one other roster move on Sunday, assigning righty Mike Burns to Minor League camp. There are 36 players left in big-league camp. Mike Timlin and Matt Clement will both start the season on the disabled list, meaning the Red Sox have nine more cuts ahead of them.
  4. well Hansack got sent down leaving Snyder, Delcarmen, Hansen, Lopez and Corey for the last two spots - i kinda want Corey and Snyder to get them and let Delcarmen and Hansen get their confidence back in AAA
  5. i hope they dont make him start - not when we have Snyder, Hansak, Gabbard, or even Taverez to fill until Lester comes in
  6. id take that but Tankersley isnt a closer he wasnt good in closing games in the ninth he blew like a bunch
  7. just wondering how many innings has Correy pitched? his era is 0.00
  8. Hansen's stuff decent at least today? Only his second outing though it is good to see he got out of the inning with only a basehit
  9. he had cancer when he was a farmhand with the yanks i believe
  10. Only needed 8 pitches too - Lesters a beast
  11. yeah i was just hopin that there was an outside chance of seeing a Sizemore type on teh sox haha. Wasnt Sizemore part of the Colon deal?
  12. the most home runs Sizemore had was in double A when he had 13. In AAA he had 8. Damon had 16 in AA. In 40 games of AA Ellsbury had 3 home runs but a .308 avg
